Interaction of mycobacterium tuberculosis with the host cells: a focus in the molecular mechanism involved in trafficking and autophagy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Tuberculosis (TB) is an ancient disease remaining a serious health threat worldwide. It is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), an acid-fast bacilli, non-sporulated, slow-growing, immobile and aerobic.

Autophagy induction regulates influenza virus replication in a time-dependent manner [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Autophagy plays a key role in host defence responses against microbial infections by promoting degradation of pathogens and participating in acquired immunity.

Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Improves Alveolar Development Impairment via Targeting VAMP8‐mediated SNAREs Complex Formation in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 19, 2 April 2026.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the tryptophan‐derived metabolite indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) on lung development and autophagic flux. IPA alleviates hyperoxia‐induced alveolar arrest by promoting autophagosome‐lysosome fusion via inhibition of VAMP8 phosphorylation, which is suggestive of a promising therapeutic target of BPD.

Integrative genomic and functional analyses reveal NINL as a modulator of tau aggregation

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Proteostasis dysfunction is a hallmark of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD), yet the genetic and molecular pathways that disrupt protein homeostasis remain poorly understood. METHODS We integrated human genetics, transcriptomics, and functional studies to identify proteostasis network components involved ...

LC3B Labeling on Terrestrial Isopod Adipocytes

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2013
The LC3B protein plays a critical role in autophagy. Normally, this protein resides in the cytosol, but following cleavage and lipidation with phosphatidylethanolamine, LC3B associates with the phagophore.

The Metabolic Role of Mitochondria in the Perinatal Cardiac Development and Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesExploration, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
This review explores the critical role of mitochondria in heart development and cardiovascular disease. It highlights how mitochondrial maturation during embryonic‐to‐postnatal transition, regulated by oxygen and metabolic changes, shapes cardiac structure and function.

Impairment of the autophagic flux in astrocytes intoxicated by trimethyltin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Autophagy is a lysosomal catabolic route for protein aggregates and damaged organelles which in different stress conditions, such as starvation, generally improves cell survival.

Rab7b modulates autophagic flux by interacting with Atg4B [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Autophagy (macroautophagy) is a highly conserved eukaryotic degradation pathway in which cytosolic components and organelles are sequestered by specialized autophagic membranes and degraded through the lysosomal system.

Autophagy in the fight against tuberculosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Tuberculosis (TB), a chronic infectious disease mainly caused by the tubercle bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is one of the world's deadliest diseases that has afflicted humanity since ancient times. Although the number of people falling ill with TB
