Structural insights into how vacuolar sorting receptor recognizes the C-terminal sorting determinant of a vicilin-like seed storage protein. [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS J
Soluble cargo proteins are sorted to the vacuoles via a receptor‐mediated mechanism. Combining crystallographic and mutagenesis studies, we showed how the C‐terminal sorting determinant (ctVSD) of vicilin‐like seed storage protein VL22 is recognized by the protease‐associated domain of Arabidopsis vacuolar‐sorting receptor 1.

Molecular Characterization of Cytokinin Response Regulator ARR21 in Arabidopsis Seed Development. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Direct
ABSTRACT The role of cytokinin among plant hormones in seed development remains largely unknown. The Arabidopsis response regulator 21 (ARR21) is one of the cytokinin response regulators and a Type‐B ARR with a nuclear localization signal and a GARP motif similar to the MYB‐like DNA‐binding domain.

High-yield, plant-based production of an antimicrobial peptide with potent activity in a mouse model. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Biotechnol J
Summary Plants offer a promising chassis for the large‐scale, cost‐effective production of diverse therapeutics, including antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). However, key advances will reduce production costs, including simplifying the downstream processing and purification steps.

The c-terminal extension of a hybrid immunoglobulin A/G heavy chain is responsible for its Golgi-mediated sorting to the vacuole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We have assessed the ability of the plant secretory pathway to handle the expression of complex heterologous proteins by investigating the fate of a hybrid immunoglobulin A/G in tobacco cells.

The role of CDC48 in the retro-translocation of non-ubiquitinated toxin substrates in plant cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
When the catalytic A subunits of the castor bean toxins ricin and Ricinus communis agglutinin (denoted as RTA and RCA A, respectively) are delivered into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) of tobacco protoplasts, they become substrates for ER ...

Nutritional quality of phaseolin types and morphotypes of green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) [PDF]

open access: yesAgrociencia, 2018
The long tradition of green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivation in Croatia has resulted in the development of a landraces adapted to specific areas and chosen to suit different dietary habits. The hypothesis of our study was that nutritional quality (content of proteins, sugars, fibres, calcium, potassium and phosphorus in fresh pods) of 14 widely

Exploring Plant α-Amylase Inhibitors: Mechanisms and Potential Application for Insect Pest Control. [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnol J
Graphical Abstract and Lay Summary In this study, we address the importance of α‐amylases in insect pests, the possible biochemical role of α‐amylase inhibitors in plant resistance to insect pests, the molecular relationships between plant α‐amylase inhibitors and insect α‐amylases, and the biotechnological potential of proteinaceous α‐amylase ...
