Acclimation responses of Arabidopsis thaliana to sustained phosphite treatments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Phosphite () induces a range of physiological and developmental responses in plants by disturbing the homeostasis of the macronutrient phosphate. Because of its close structural resemblance to phosphate, phosphite impairs the sensing, membrane transport,

Phosphatidylethanol in post‐mortem blood: A comparative study of blood matrices and its stability at routine storage conditions

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Determination of alcohol markers in post‐mortem cases can be useful to classify drinking habits and potential alcohol habituation prior to death. Phosphatidylethanol (PEth) is a direct alcohol marker and is already commonly used in a variety of contexts.

Differential Effects of Liver Regeneration on Aging‐Related Changes in Gene Expression and Metabolic Function

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
The age‐specific gene expression status of aged mouse hepatocytes is mostly resolved and rejuvenated when liver regeneration is completed; whereas the age‐specific intracellular metabolic status detected in the liver of aged mice is largely maintained and not rejuvenated even after liver regeneration is completed.

Effect of garlic on liver phosphatidate phosphohydrolase and plasma lipid levels in hyperlipidemic rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Studies on the effects of garlic (Allium sativum) on hyperlipidemia have demonstrated somewhat controversial results and there have been few studies on its enzymatic mechanism.

Phosphatidic acid and lipid-sensing by mTOR [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 2013
Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) has been implicated as a sensor of nutrient sufficiency for dividing cells and is activated by essential amino acids and glucose. However, cells also require lipids for membrane biosynthesis. A central metabolite in the synthesis of membrane phospholipids is phosphatidic acid (PA), which is required for the ...

Novel approaches for the discovery of pharmacogenetic biomarkers of chemotoxicity in patients with colorectal cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Chemotherapeutic treatment for colorectal cancer (colorectal cancer) allows for increased patient overall survival. However, current therapeutic regimens are often associated with the development of adverse drug reactions, which represent a morbidity, mortality and economic issue.

Triacylglycerol synthesis in rat adipose tissue : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Adipose tissue consists of two types of cell; the adipocyte and the non-adipocyte {Rodbell, 1964). The adipocyte is unique amongst mammalian cell types in that one class of component {TG) comprises up to 80% of its weight.

Fat storage-inducing transmembrane (FIT or FITM) proteins are related to lipid phosphatase/phosphotransferase enzymes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fat storage-inducing transmembrane (FIT or FITM) proteins have been implicated in the partitioning of triacylglycerol to lipid droplets and the budding of lipid droplets from the ER.

GPD1L‐Mediated Glycerophospholipid Metabolism Dysfunction in Women With Diminished Ovarian Reserve: Insights From Pseudotargeted Metabolomic Analysis of Follicular Fluid

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Our study demonstrated the downregulation of GPD1L and its mediated glycerophospholipid metabolism dysfunction in patients with diminished ovarian reserve. Moreover, we verified that GPD1L knockdown leads to increased cell apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction of KGN cells, as well as impaired oocyte quality.

Phosphatidic acid induces cytoskeletal rearrangements through the Src‐FAK‐RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway during decidualization

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Decidualization is the process by which human endometrial stromal cells undergo morphological and functional changes to prepare the uterus for embryo implantation and support pregnancy. Our study identifies the phosphatidic acid‐Src‐FAK‐RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway as a critical regulator of the cytoskeletal alterations required for this transformation.
