PI3P-dependent regulation of cell size and autophagy by phosphatidylinositol 5-phosphate 4-kinase

open access: yesLife Science Alliance, 2023
PIP4K is a lipid kinase implicated in tumour growth, immune function, and metabolic regulation. This study shows that PIP4K regulates PI3P levels and autophagy, thereby controlling cell size in Drosophila salivary glands. Phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate

Phosphatidylinositol 4-Phosphate Negatively Regulates Chloroplast Division in Arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yesThe Plant Cell, 2015
Abstract Chloroplast division is performed by the constriction of envelope membranes at the division site. Although constriction of a ring-like protein complex has been shown to be involved in chloroplast division, it remains unknown how membrane lipids participate in the process.

Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

Combinatorial targeting of G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reveals a mechanistic role for bile acids and leukotrienes in drug‐induced liver injury

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).

The casein kinases Yck1p and Yck2p act in the secretory pathway, in part, by regulating the Rab exchange factor Sec2p. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Sec2p is a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that activates Sec4p, the final Rab GTPase of the yeast secretory pathway. Sec2p is recruited to secretory vesicles by the upstream Rab Ypt32p acting in concert with phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate (PI(4)P).

Membrane contact sites - an interesting species, an interesting mix [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this issue of EMBO reports, Loewen and colleagues reveal a role for plasma membrane–endoplasmic reticulum contact sites in regulating phosphatidylcholine synthesis in budding ...

Phosphatidylinositol-4-Phosphate 5-Kinases and Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-Bisphosphate Synthesis in the Brain [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2010
The predominant pathway for phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P(2)) synthesis is thought to be phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate at the 5 position of the inositol ring by type I phosphatidylinositol phosphate kinases (PIPK): PIPKIalpha, PIPKIbeta, and PIPKIgamma.

Targeting phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The landscape of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) has been changing rapidly due to growing proportion of HPV-related disease and development of new therapeutic agents.

Adipocyte-specific deletion of PIP5K1c reduces diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance by increasing energy expenditure

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2022
Background Phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinase type I c (PIP5K1c) catalyses the synthesis of phospholipid phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) by phosphorylating phosphatidylinositol 4 phosphate, which plays multiple roles in regulating ...

Immunochemical characterization of phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate kinase from rat brain [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1986
Affinity-purified antibodies were used to identify a protein of molecular mass 45 kDa (45 kDa protein) in rat brain cytosol as phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PtdIns4P) kinase. Antibodies were raised in rabbits by immunization with the purified 45 kDa protein.
