One of the globally common cancers is colorectal cancer (CRC). At present, a surgical approach remains a good option for CRC patients; however, 20% of surgically treated CRC patients experience metastasis. Currently, even the first‐line used drug, oxaliplatin, remains inadequate for treating metastatic CRC, and its side effect of neurotoxicity is a ...

Identification of vicinal thiols of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP).
Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) from the cytosol of rat liver has 13 cysteines, at least one of which (Cys288) is known to be very reactive and critical for catalytic activity (Lewis, C. T., Seyer, J. M., and Carlson, G. M. (1989) J. Biol. Chem. 264, 27-33).

Intestinal gluconeogenesis and glucose transport according to body fuel availability in rats [PDF]
Intestinal hexose absorption and gluconeogenesis have been studied in relation to refeeding after two different fasting phases: a long period of protein sparing during which energy expenditure is derived from lipid oxidation (phase II), and a later phase characterized by a rise in plasma corticosterone triggering protein catabolism (phase III).

Background The metabolic function of PEPCK-C is not fully understood; deletion of the gene for the enzyme in mice provides an opportunity to fully assess its function. Methods The gene for the cytosolic form of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP) (EC

Prolonging assembly through dissociation:A self assembly paradigm in microtubules [PDF]
We study a one-dimensional model of microtubule assembly/disassembly in which GTP bound to tubulins within the microtubule undergoes stochastic hydrolysis. In contrast to models that only consider a cap of GTP-bound tubulin, stochastic hydrolysis allows GTP-bound tubulin remnants to exist within the microtubule.

Mn2+-sensitive and -insensitive forms of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP).
Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP) (EC 4.1.1.32) from rat liver cytosol is activated by micromolar concentrations of Mn2+ under conditions where GTP is present as the MgGTP complex and free Mg2+ is present in excess. The purified, homogeneous enzyme rapidly loses the ability to be activated by Mn2+ upon storage, incubation with oxidized ...

Changes in hepatic messenger RNA for phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP) during development.
Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (GTP) [GTP;oxaloacetate carboxy-lyase(transphosphorylating); EC 4.1.1.32] is absent in rat liver cytosol during fetal life and is synthesized initially at birth. De novo synthesis of the enzyme can be induced prematurely
