배경: 세포 내 신호전달에 중요한 단백질인 포스포리파제 C-β4(phospholipase C-β4, PLC-β4)의 물리화학적 성질을 연구하기 위해서는 다량의 정제된 단백질이 필요하나 기존의 망막 조직을 이용한 정제 방법은 그 방법이 매우 어려워 충분한 양의 단백질을 정제하는 것이 거의 불가능하다. 따라서 이를 쉽게 정제하기 위하여 배큘로바이러스(baculovirus)를 이용한 발현 및 정제 방법을 개발할 필요가 있다. 또한 배큘로바이러스를 이용한 정제 방법이 확립된 경우 이를 이용하여 키메라 단백질의 발현도 쉽게 할 수 있어 단백질의 성질연구에 매우 유용하다.
