Genetical and biochemical studies on human phosphoserine phosphatase

Annals of Human Genetics, 1980
Summary1. Phosphoserine phosphatase (PSP), specific for D‐and L‐phosphoserine, has been identified in all human tissues.2. PSP shows no activity towards phosphorylated serine residues in phosphoproteins.3. In most tissues, PSP consists of a single major isozyme, probably determined by a single autosomal locus.4.

Phosphoserine phosphatase distribution in normal and neoplastic rat tissues

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1969
Abstract Optimal conditions for assay of phosphoserine phosphatase by phosphate release were determined in dialyzed rat tissue extracts. Hydrolysis that was specifically inhibited by 10 m m l -serine was used to measure the enzyme activity. Nonspecific reactions were minimal.

Identification of a novel ligand binding site in phosphoserine phosphatase from the hyperthermophilic archaeon Thermococcus onnurineus†

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function and Bioinformatics, 2013
Phosphoserine phosphatase (PSP) catalyzes the final and irreversible step of L-serine synthesis by hydrolyzing phosphoserine to produce L-serine and inorganic phosphate.

Abstract 773: Overexpression of phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPH) in prostate cancer and in tumor microenvironment promotes tumor cell proliferation

Cancer Research
Reprogrammed cellular metabolism is one of the key features of cancer and tumor microenvironment. L-3-phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPH) is one of the five rate-limiting enzymes in the biosynthesis of serine from glucose that supports cell proliferation.

Structural and functional characterisation of phosphoserine phosphatase, that plays critical role in the oxidative stress response in the parasite Entamoeba histolytica.

Journal of Structural Biology, 2019
Amoebiasis is a common parasitic infection in the developing world and is caused by the protist Entameoba histolytica. The proliferation of E. histolytica and its ability to invade epithelial tissues have been shown in several studies to be greatly ...

Phosphoserine phosphatase: Development formation and hormonal regulation in rat tissues

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1969
Abstract Phosphoserine phosphatase was measured in rat liver and kidney as a function of age, sex, and treatment with different endocrine or metabolic factors. Several differences were found between liver and kidney in the regulation of this enzyme. The phosphoserine phosphatase activity of adult liver was 595 units per g for males, 383 for females ...

Lack of phosphoserine phosphatase activity alters pollen and tapetum development in Arabidopsis thaliana.

open access: yesPlant Science, 2015
Formation of mature pollen grain, an essential process for the reproduction of higher plants, is affected in lines that are deficient in the enzymes of the phosphorylated pathway of serine biosynthesis (PPSB). Mutants of phosphoserine phosphatase (PSP), the enzyme that catalyses the last step of PPSB, are embryo-lethal.

[25] O-phosphoserine phosphatase

1963
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the preparation and purification of O -phosphoserine phosphatase. Inorganic phosphate (P i ) liberated from phosphoserine by enzymatic hydrolysis is measured colorimetrically. A control mixture, to which trichloroacetic acid is added before the enzyme, serves to correct for P i present in the reagents.

Differential Effects of Diabetes on Adipocyte and Liver Phosphotyrosine and Phosphoserine Phosphatase Activities

Diabetes, 1991
We examined the activities of particulate and cytosolic phosphotyrosine phosphatase (PTPase) and phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPase) in adipocytes and livers of diabetic rats. PTPase activity was assessed with [32P]tyrosine-phosphorylated insulin receptor (IR), whereas PSPase activity was assayed with [32P]serine-phosphorylated glycogen synthase ...

Discovery and analysis of a novel type of the serine biosynthetic enzyme phosphoserine phosphatase in Thermus thermophilus

The FEBS Journal, 2018
Studying the diversity of extant metabolisms and enzymes, especially those involved in the biosynthesis of primary metabolites including amino acids, is important to shed light on the evolution of life. Many organisms synthesize serine from phosphoserine
