Molecular‐Level Modulation of Proton Transport via Electron‐Proton Coupling in Bio‐p‐n Junctions
We developed a pH‐sensing device capable of operating in biological environments. A biohybrid p–n junction was constructed using bacteriorhodopsin (bR) and the photoconductive polymer poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT). Under light illumination, the photocurrent exhibits distinct transitions across various pH gradients, demonstrating the system's high ...

Steady-State Characterization of Bacteriorhodopsin-D85N Photocycle
An operational characterization of the photocycle of the genetic mutant D85N of bacteriorhodopsin, BR-D85N, is presented. Steady-state bleach spectra and pump-probe absorbance data are obtained with thick hydrated films containing BR-D85N embedded in a ...

Sound offset responses become highly informative in the auditory cortex
Abstract figure legend Using large datasets of neural responses to diverse sounds recorded across four stages of the mouse auditory system (depicted and colour‐coded on the left), offset responses occurring after the termination of each sound (time window indicated by the orange shaded area superimposed with activity traces) were characterized and it ...

The photocycle movie of photoactive yellow protein from nanoseconds to seconds
The structural changes associated with the photocycle of photoactive yellow protein (PYP) was investigated. Ultrafast time-resolved x-ray crystallography techniques were used for the structural analysis.

Hybrid retinoid analogs as instruments for the nanobiophotonic researches
This mini-review presents experimental data obtained by the authors in the context of a cycle of structural-functional research on bionanophotochrome bacteriorhodopsin carried out during the past 10 years.

Initial Photophysical Characterization of the Proteorhodopsin Optical Proton Sensor (PROPS)
Fluorescence is not frequently used as a tool for investigating the photocycles of rhodopsins, largely because of the low quantum yield of the retinal chromophore.

Oviductal smooth muscle contractions are important for preimplantation embryo transport under the regulation of steroid hormone signaling. Deletion of serum response factor (Srf) in progesterone receptor (Pgr)‐expressing cells leads to differential expression of 1670 genes in the mouse oviduct, 306 of which are directly bound by SRF.

Mitochondrial oxidative metabolism generates ROS. Downstream chemiexcitation triplet carbonyls, singlet oxygen; produces ultra‐weak photon emission (UPE). Energetic bounds restrict well‐coupled respiration to extremely weak, red/NIR‐biased emission. Stronger visible UPE indicates elevated oxidative flux, linking measured photon counts to redox state ...
