Ageing in Mexico : modelling health and frailty and its relationship to the use of health services and the supply of informal care [PDF]
Mexico is still a "young" country with pressing burdens on education, especially at secondary and high school levels, and high percentages of the population entering the work force each year. Yet, it will complete its "demographic transition" in the

A multifunctional EV‐based nanoplatform (Ang‐TEVs@Gel) was engineered via preconditioning, surface targeting, and ROS‐responsive hydrogel encapsulation to reprogram microglia. This system restored autophagy via miR‐664a‐3p/PIK3CA axis, cleared myelin debris, resolved neuroinflammation, and promoted axon remyelination, ultimately achieving robust motor ...

A nanomodulator called L‐Arginine/lificiguat@Copper‐hollow Prussian blue@Calcium phosphate nanoparticles is constructed to launch a self‐amplifying “avalanche effect” in tumor cells. The ensuing cascade, triggered by the acidic tumor microenvironment and near‐infrared light, induces calcium overload, generates a reactive oxygen species and reactive ...

A biomimetic doppelgänger nanosystem neutralizes extracellular inflammatory cytokines and silences intracellular pyroptosis, reprogramming pathogenic macrophages to attenuate both joint and spine degeneration. ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) and intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) are debilitating musculoskeletal disorders driven by shared ...

Sleep and physical frailty in older adults
Motivations The relationship between sleep and frailty in older age is complex. Two approaches were employed to advance our understanding of the association between insomnia and physical frailty in old age.

Glucocorticoids transcriptionally activate LCN2 expression via GR nuclear translocation. Secreted LCN2 binds MMP9 to degrade skeletal muscle ECM collagen, blocks integrin‐mediated mechanotransduction, bidirectionally disrupts muscle protein homeostasis, and reveals a novel target for steroid‐induced muscle atrophy.

Integrating Frailty and Physical Resilience to Improve Risk Estimation in Aging Populations
Background: Physical resilience, broadly defined as the ability to resist or recover from health stressors, is a relatively new concept in the field of aging, yet, anticipated as a potentially game-changing idea.
