The effect of phytic acid on enzymatic degradation of dentin.
We evaluated the effect of phytic acid on matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)- or cysteine cathepsin (CC)-mediated dentin degradation. Demineralized dentin beams were divided into five groups (n = 12) and treated with 1%, 2%, or 3% phytic acid or with 37 ...

A defective ABC transporter of the MRP family, responsible for the bean lpa1 mutation, affects the regulation of the phytic acid pathway, reduces seed myo-inositol and alters ABA sensitivity [PDF]
We previously identified the lpa1 (low phytic acid) 280-10 line that carries a mutation conferring a 90% reduction in phytic acid (InsP6) content. In contrast to other lpa mutants, lpa1(280-10) does not display negative pleiotropic effects.

Association of phytic acid towards the yield attributing traits in maize (Zea Mays. L)
The current investigation was done to understand the role of phytic acid and its contribution to yield and yield attributing traits in maize. Phytic acid is an anti-nutritional factor involved in chelating phosphorus and other micronutrients in food.

Insights of Nutritional and Anti-nutritional Retention in Traditionally Processed Millets
Millets are nutritionally superior indigenous staple crops packed with high protein, vitamins, and minerals. However, anti-nutrients such as phytic acid, tannins, and polyphenols present in the millets tend to reduce the bio-accessibility of minerals ...

Iron and zinc availability in maize lines. [PDF]
The aim of this study was to characterize the Zn and Fe availability by phytic acid/Zn and phytic acid/Fe molar ratios, in 22 tropical maize inbred lines with different genetic backgrounds.

Effect of Phytic Acid Dietary Level on Growth Performance and Serum Components in Broiler Chickens
This study was conducted to elucidate the effects of dietary phytic acid supplementation on organs and serum components in broiler chickens. A total of 30 1-day-old broiler chicks were divided into three treatment groups (n=10, each). The control group

Interaction of solid organic acids with carbon nanotube field effect transistors [PDF]
A series of solid organic acids were used to p-dope carbon nanotubes. The extent of doping is shown to be dependent on the pKa value of the acids. Highly fluorinated carboxylic acids and sulfonic acids are very effective in shifting the threshold voltage and making carbon nanotube field effect transistors to be more p-type devices.

Low phytic acid Crops: Observations Based On Four Decades of Research
The low phytic acid (lpa), or “low-phytate” seed trait can provide numerous potential benefits to the nutritional quality of foods and feeds and to the sustainability of agricultural production.

Phytic Acid and Whole Grains for Health Controversy
Phytate (PA) serves as a phosphate storage molecule in cereals and other plant foods. In food and in the human body, PA has a high affinity to chelate Zn2+ and Fe2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, K+, Mn2+ and Cu2+.
