Nonadiabatic quantum control of a semiconductor charge qubit
We demonstrate multipulse quantum control of a single electron charge qubit. The qubit is manipulated by applying nonadiabatic voltage pulses to a surface depletion gate and readout is achieved using a quantum point contact charge sensor.

Strong magnetic coupling of an ultracold gas to a superconducting waveguide cavity [PDF]
Placing an ensemble of $10^6$ ultracold atoms in the near field of a superconducting coplanar waveguide resonator (CPWR) with $Q \sim 10^6$ one can achieve strong coupling between a single microwave photon in the CPWR and a collective hyperfine qubit ...

Passivity-based PI control of first-order systems with I/O communication delays: a frequency domain analysis [PDF]
In this paper, the proportional integral (PI) control of first-order linear passive systems through a delayed communication channel is revisited in light of the relative stability concept called σ-stability.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Optimized pulses for the control of uncertain qubits
Constructing high-fidelity control fields that are robust to control, system, and/or surrounding environment uncertainties is a crucial objective for quantum information processing. Using the two-state Landau-Zener model for illustrative simulations of a

A Polynomial Translation of pi-calculus FCPs to Safe Petri Nets [PDF]
We develop a polynomial translation from finite control pi-calculus processes to safe low-level Petri nets. To our knowledge, this is the first such translation.

This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

New tuning rules for PI and fractional PI controllers
Abstract Abstract This paper presents new tuning rules for PI and fractional PI control of processes that are typically found in process control. The rules are based on characterization of process dynamics by three parameters that can be obtained from a simple step response experiment.
