Roasting‐Like Thermal Reconfiguration of Bioactive and Pigment Profiles in Pistachios From Distinct Geographical Origins

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Dry roasting‐like treatment (140°C for 45 min) induces a significant compositional reconfiguration of (poly)phenols, pigments, and antioxidant capacity in pistachio kernels, strictly dependent on their geographical origin (Iran, Spain, USA, and Turkey), ultimately enhancing their functional quality.

Alterations in Metabolites Associated With Umbilical Cord Blood in Monozygotic Twins Discordant for Congenital Heart Disease

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2026.
This study found that the metabolomic signature of umbilical venous cord blood in congenital heart disease (CHD) differs from that of healthy monozygotic (MZ) co‐twins. Dysregulation of metabolic pathways like glucose, lipid, and amino acid metabolism, along with altered metabolites, helps understand CHD predisposition.

Therapeutic Role of Resveratrol and Piceatannol in Disease Prevention [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Blood Disorders & Transfusion, 2014
Resveratrol, (3,4’,5-trihydroxystilbene) has long been suspected to show a broad range of biological activities of medicinal interest such as anticancer, anti-oxidative, anti-diabetic, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory activities. Piceatannol (3,3’,4’,5-tetrahydroxystilbene) is a hydroxylated analogue of resveratrol and it confirms a lot of similar ...

Mechanistic Insights Into Ultrasound‐Assisted Plant Stilbenes Sustainable Extraction Using Hydrophilic NADES: A Case Study of Cajaninstilbene Acid With Integrated NMR, COSMO‐RS, and MD Simulation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
Schematic illustration of green NADES extraction by using CSA as a model compound. ABSTRACT Stilbenes are bioactive phytochemicals with notable health benefits, yet their extraction is hindered by hydrophobicity and reliance on toxic solvents. This study introduces a green, sustainable approach for stilbene extraction using hydrophilic natural deep ...

Piceatannol Lowers the Blood Glucose Level in Diabetic Mice

open access: yesBiological & Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2015
We previously found that passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) seeds contained a high amount of piceatannol (3,5,3',4'-trans-tetrahydroxystilbene), a natural analog of resveratrol (3,5,4'-trans-trihydroxystilbene). Resveratrol has been proposed as a potential anti-metabolic disorder compound, by its activation of sirtuin and AMP-activated protein kinase ...

Resveratrol for Cancer Radio‐Sensitization: Ready for Prime Time or Future Perspective

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Resveratrol exerts antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory effects by reducing reactive oxygen species and suppressing NF‐κB and JAK/STAT signaling pathways. It modulates metabolic signaling through AMPK‐dependent inhibition of mTOR, influencing cell survival and inflammatory responses.

Applications of Ozonated Water for Effectively Controlling Grape Powdery Mildew in Vineyards and Enhancing Berry Metabolites

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 3, May–June 2026.
Ozonated water effectively controls grape powdery mildew with 85%–100% efficacy and inhibits Erysiphe necator spore germination by up to 97%. Preventive ozonated water treatments enhance polyphenolic metabolite accumulation—treated berries show higher levels of stilbenes and flavonoids.

Pharmacokinetics of selected stilbenes: rhapontigenin, piceatannol and pinosylvin in rats

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 2006
Abstract The pharmacokinetics of piceatannol, pinosylvin and rhapontigenin were characterized in male Sprague-Dawley rats after single intravenous doses of 10 mg kg−1 of each stilbene. Serial blood samples were collected via a catheter inserted into the right jugular vein and plasma samples were analysed for the selected stilbenes ...

Adverse effects of grapevine trunk diseases on canes produced from infected rootstock mother blocks

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 2973-2988, April 2026.
High incidences of GTD pathogens in rootstock mother vine heads, with Phaeomoniella chlamydospora and Diplodia seriata affecting cane physiology and quality. One‐year‐old canes harbor systemic inoculum, highlighting the need for careful monitoring and management.
