Detrimental Effect of Low‐Magnitude High‐Frequency Vibration in an Ex Vivo Model of Intervertebral Disc Degeneration Despite Estrogen Treatment

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Low‐magnitude high‐frequency vibration (LMHFV), with or without 17β‐oestradiol (E2), exacerbated papain‐induced bovine intervertebral disc degeneration, reducing cell viability, impairing matrix production, and increasing inflammation. E2 showed no protective effect against papain‐induced degeneration or LMHFV.

[Distribution of types I and III collagens in hepatic cirrhosis by the picrosirius polarization method].

open access: yesArquivos de gastroenterologia, 1985
The distribution of types I and III collagen fibrils was analysed in liver fragments of 18 cases of alcoholic hepatic cirrhosis. Using the method of picrosirius polarization the collagen fibrils type I and III were found to be very increased in both intra and extralobular connective tissue.

Picrosirius red, polarized light microscopy, and curvelet transform analysis: An improved method for liver fibrosis assessment

open access: yesTissue and Cell
Liver fibrosis is a hallmark of chronic liver diseases, characterized by excessive extracellular matrix deposition and structural alterations. Conventional histological assessments rely on qualitative or semi-quantitative scoring systems that may lack sensitivity for subtle fibrotic changes.

Comparative Analysis of Dual‐miRNA Mediated Stimulation of Nucleus Pulposus and Bone Marrow Derived Stem Cells for Intervertebral Disc Repair

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Nucleus pulposus (NP) and bone marrow derived stem cells (BMSCs) transfected with miRNA‐149‐5p‐mimic and 221‐3p‐inhibitor were evaluated in goat monolayer, microtissue, and ex vivo organ cultures of mild degeneration. miRNA‐treated NP cells demonstrated an anti‐catabolic and pro‐discogenic response in organs, highlighting its potential as a ...

Defining the Human Nucleus Pulposus Microenvironment and Its Impact on Cell Matrix Synthesis and Metabolic Activity

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Human intervertebral disc nutrient microenvironment. Changes observed in microenvironmental profile as a result of degeneration outlined on upper vertebral body with ranges of each species as reported in previous studies. Oxygen, glucose, and lactate gradients are profiled across the lower disc in both healthy and degenerated states.

Preclinical Efficacy and Safety Study of a Novel Dermal Fibroblast Modulating Drug, SLI‐F06, in Cutaneous Wound Healing

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
A novel, chemically synthesized fibromodulin (FMOD)‐derived peptide, SLI‐F06, has been developed to significantly improve scar appearance, tensile strength, and histological outcomes among multiple preclinical animal models. Demonstrating no genotoxicity or systemic/local toxicity, SLI‐F06 has received United States Food and Drug Administration ...

Structural Characterization of Cardiac Free‐Running Purkinje Fibers Using Inhomogeneous Magnetization Transfer (ihMT): A Proof of Concept MRI‐Histology Approach

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2026.
The cardiac Purkinje network is essential for synchronized ventricular activation but remains difficult to visualize with conventional MRI due to limited structural contrast. This study demonstrates that inhomogeneous magnetization transfer imaging provides enhanced contrast that differentiates free‐running Purkinje fibers, Purkinje‐Myocardial Junction,
