Minimizers with discontinuous velocities for the electromagnetic variational method
The electromagnetic two-body problem has \emph{neutral differential delay} equations of motion that, for generic boundary data, can have solutions with \emph{discontinuous} derivatives. If one wants to use these neutral differential delay equations with \

Linearizing and Forecasting: A Reservoir Computing Route to Digital Twins of the Brain
A new approach uses simple neural networks to create digital twins of brain activity, capturing how different patterns unfold over time. The method generates and recovers key dynamics even from noisy data. When applied to fMRI, it predicts brain signals and reveals distinctive activity patterns across regions and individuals, opening possibilities for ...

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

Limit cycles in planar piecewise linear differential systems with nonregular separation line [PDF]
Agraïments: The first author is supported by FAPESP grant number 2013/24541-0 and CAPES grant number 88881.030454/2013-01 Program CSF-PVE and UNAB13-4E-1604. In this paper we deal with lanar piecewise linear differential systems defined in two zones. We consider the case when the two linear zones are angular sectors of angles and 2 - respectively, for (

Physics‐Embedded Neural Network: A Novel Approach to Design Polymeric Materials
Traditional black‐box models for polymer mechanics rely solely on data and lack physical interpretability. This work presents a physics‐embedded neural network (PENN) that integrates constitutive equations into machine learning. The approach ensures reliable stress predictions, provides interpretable parameters, and enables performance‐driven, inverse ...

ABSTRACT Current prostate cancer detection methods remain limited in non‐invasiveness and specificity, prompting interest in urinary biomarkers such as sarcosine. Here, we report a urine‐powered wearable platform for non‐invasive sarcosine detection as a proof‐of‐concept for decentralized early warning.

Although fractional calculus has evolved significantly since its origin in the 1695 correspondence between Leibniz and L’Hôpital, the numerical treatment of multi-order fractional differential equations remains a challenge.
