Immunomodulatory effects of decitabine in pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2022Decitabine (DAC), an inhibitor of DNA methyltransferase, is typically used to reverse DNA methylation and is considered an epigenetic modifying drug. DNA methylation is crucial to the regulation of gene expression without altering genetic information.

Gene cloning and functional study of PmKSPI from Pinctada fucata martensii
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2022Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitors (KSPI) are a family of serine protease inhibitors (SPIs) and are extensively found in animals, plants, and microbes. SPI can inhibit proteases that may be harmful or unwanted to its cells. Here, a four-domain Kunitz-type SPI, PmKSPI, was cloned by RACE in the pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii. The full-length

Molecular and functional analysis of PmC1qDC in nacre formation of Pinctada fucata martensii
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2020The C1q-domain-containing (C1qDC) proteins are a family of proteins characterized by a globular C1q (gC1q) domain in their C-terminus which hold the potential function in the shell formation as shell matrix proteins. In this study, a C1qDC protein was identified and characterized in pearl oyster (Pinctada fucata martensii) (PmC1qDC) to explore its ...

Molecular and functional analysis of PmCHST1b in nacre formation of Pinctada fucata martensii
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2018Keratan sulfate possesses considerable amounts of negatively charged sulfonic acid groups and participates in biomineralization. In the present study, we investigated characteristics and functions of a CHST1 gene identified from the pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii (PmCHST1b) which participated in the synthesis of keratan sulfate.

The role of Smad1/5 in mantle immunity of the pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2021The Smad protein family is an important medium for transducing BMP-Smads signals, and which have been proved that their important role in regulating shell biomineralization in Pinctada fucata martensii in our previous study. The members of TGF-β superfamily were involved in innate immunity in vertebrates and invertebrates, and Smad regulatory networks ...

Evolutionary and functional analysis of MyD88 genes in pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2020Myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) is an adapter protein that links toll-like receptor and interleukin 1 receptor-mediated signal transduction. In this study, we identified 20 MyD88 genes from eight mollusk genomes and found that MyD88 was expanded in bivalves. This expansion tends to be tandem duplication.

Acute toxicity of formaldehyde to the pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii
Water Research, 2000Abstract The acute toxicities of formaldehyde to one- and two-year-old pearl oysters, Pinctada fucata martensii, were determined under a semi-static condition at 20 and 25°C. The median lethal concentration (LC50) lowered progressively as the duration of exposure increased. The toxicity curves became almost asymptotic with the time axis by 96 h.

Triploid production in the Japanese pearl oyster, Pinctada fucata martensii
Aquaculture, 1989Abstract The eggs of the Japanese pearl oyster, Pinctada fucata martensii, were treated with cold, heat or cytochalasin B (CB) shocks at various time intervals after insemination to induce triploidy. To detect polyploidy, relative DNA content was estimated by microfluorometry with DAPI staining of larval or juvenile cells.

Rhamnose-binding lectins (RBLs) are key components of pattern recognition molecules involved in pathogen clearance during non-specific immune responses and play an important role in the immune response of Mollusca. Pinctada fucata martensii is an essential species for artificial seawater pearl cultivation in China.
