A galactose-specific lectin from the hemolymph of the pearl oyster, Pinctada fucata martensii

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1989
1. A lectin in the serum of Pinctada fucata martensii was purified by a combination of affinity chromatography on Sepharose 4B coupled with bovine submaxillary gland mucine, anion exchange chromatography on Mono Q and gel filtration on Superose 6. 2.

The succinylome of Pinctada fucata martensii implicates lysine succinylation in the allograft-induced stress response

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2022
Lysine succinylation is a novel protein post-translational modification associated with the regulation of a variety of cellular processes. Post-translational modifications may regulate the immune response of Pinctada fucata martensii, a marine bivalve used to produce cultured pearls, in response to the surgical implantation of the seed pearl.

Evolution and function analysis of interleukin-17 gene from Pinctada fucata martensii

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019
Interleukin-17 (IL-17) is a proinflammatory cytokine that plays an important role in immune responses. In this study, we identified 57 IL-17 genes from the genomes of six marine invertebrates, including Pinctada fucata martensii, Crassostrea gigas, Lottia gigantea, Capitella teleta, Mizuhopecten yessoensis, and Mytilus galloprovincialis.

Cloning and functional analysis of a trypsin-like serine protease from Pinctada fucata martensii

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2022
Trypsin-like serine proteases (TLSs) play various roles in dietary protein digestion, hemolymph coagulation, antimicrobial peptide synthesis, and, in particular, the rapid immune pathways activated in response to pathogen detection. The cultured pearl industry, of which Pinctada fucata martensii is one of the most important species, is plagued by ...

Identification and functional characterization of a superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD) from Pinctada fucata martensii

Fish & Shellfish Immunology
Copper/zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu/Zn-SOD) can effectively eliminate reactive oxygen species (ROS),avoid damage from O2 to the body, and maintain O2 balance. In this study, multi-step high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), combined with Mass Spectrometry (MS), was used to isolate and identify Cu/Zn-SOD from the serum of Pinctada fucata ...

Ecdysone signal pathway participates in shell formation in pearl oysters Pinctada fucata martensii

The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2022
Ecdysone exists in arthropods, Mollusca and other invertebrates and plays vital roles in exoskeleton formation of Ecdysozoa. However, little is known about its functions in bivalve species. Herein, we identified ecdysone from the serum of pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii and obtained the coding sequence of ecdysone receptor (PmEcR) and homologue ...

Phosphoproteomics changes due to allograft-induced stress responses of Pinctada fucata martensii

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part D: Genomics and Proteomics
Protein phosphorylation modifications are post-translational modifications (PTMs) that play important roles in signal transduction and immune regulation. Implanting a spherical nucleus into a recipient shellfish is critical in marine pearl aquaculture.

Role of a perlucin-like protein in the antimicrobial immunity of Pinctada fucata martensii

C-type lectins (CTLs) are an important class of pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) involved in invertebrate innate immunity. Herein, a perlucin-like protein (PLP) from Pinctada fucata martensii was cloned and characterized and designated as PmPLP.

Fertility of cryopreserved spermatozoa of the Japanese pearl oyster, Pinctada fucata martensii

Aquaculture, 2008
Abstract The aims of this study were to compare the fertility of fresh and cryopreserved spermatozoa of the Japanese pearl oyster, Pinctada fucata martensii and to develop artificial fertilization methods using the cryopreserved spermatozoa. The optimal egg density for the fertilization test was found to be 1.0 × 10 5 eggs ml − 1 seawater. When 1.

Separation, identification and gene expression analysis of PmAMP-1 from Pinctada fucata martensii

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019
Antibacterial peptides (AMPs) constitute an important part of the body's innate immune system and are responsible for a wide range of inhibitory effects against pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. In this study, multi-step high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), combined with Mass Spectrometry (MS), was used to isolate and identify ...
