Changes in the Soluble Carbohydrate Profile During Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) Germination and in the Response of Sprouts to Desiccation and Cold Stress

open access: yesStresses
Germination of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) seeds causes degradation of some antinutritional compounds. At the same time, the content of dietary important compounds, including some carbohydrates, in the sprouts increases.

Exogenously applied D-pinitol and D-chiro-inositol modifies the accumulation of α-D-galactosides in developing tiny vetch (Vicia hirsuta [L.] S.F. Gray) seeds

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2011
In the present study we have investigated the effect of exogenous cyclitols on the accumulation of their galactosides and raffinose family oligosaccharides (RFOs), as well as on some enzymes important for their biosynthesis in seeds of tiny vetch (Vicia ...

A REVIEW ON THE DIVERSE EFFECTS OF D-PINITOL

open access: yes, 2018
D-Pinitol, a mono-methylated form of D-chiro-inositol, was identified as an active principle in soy foods and legumes. Mature and dried soybean seeds contain up to 1% D-pinitol. D-pinitol functions in plants as an osmolyte by improving the tolerance to drought stress or heat stress. Pinitol has well-known insulinlike effects.
