Epoxide derivatives of pipecolic acid and proline are inhibitors of pipecolate oxidase
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 1998The cis-4,5-epoxide derivative of L-pipecolic acid (2S,4S,5R-epoxypipecolic acid, cis-3) was synthesized and found to serve as an excellent substrate for L-pipecolate oxidase (L-PO) and also to cause time-dependent, irreversible inactivation of the enzyme. Data are presented showing this compound is a mechanism-based inhibitor of L-PO, whereas 2S,3R,4S-

An efficient, asymmetric synthesis of pipecolic acid and 2-alkyl pipecolic acids
Tetrahedron: Asymmetry, 2005Both (R)- and (S)-pipecolic acids and their 2-alkyl derivatives have been synthesized via diastereoselective alkylations of (R)-5-phenylmorpholin-2-one 5.

The oxidation of pipecolic acid in preincubated soils
Folia Microbiologica, 1970Chernozem soil was preincubated with 0.1% glucose, glucose plus ammonium nitrate, hydrolyzed casein or amino acids for five days and with 1% wheat straw, pectin, peptone or cellulose for ten days. The soil was modified by this treatment so that the pipecolic acid was oxidized in two steps, as was shown by two peaks on the graphic plot of the oxygen ...

Enantioanalysis of Pipecolic Acid with Stochastic and Potentiometric Microsensors
Chirality, 2012ABSTRACTStochastic and potentiometric microsensors based on porphyrins and polymeric surfactants such as polysodium N‐undecanoyl‐ l‐leucylvanilate and polysodium N‐undecanoyl‐ l‐vanilate were developed for enantioselective assay of pipecolic acid. The matrices used for the design of the stochastic sensors were diamond paste and graphite paste, while ...

Synthetic application of pipecolic acid
Research on Chemical Intermediates, 2014Pipecolic acid is used as organocatalyst and novel substrate in organic synthesis. Organocatalysis-based methodologies for asymmetric transformations are now the frontier field of research in chiral synthesis. In the recent years, pipecolic acid opens a new avenue as an organocatalyst and as an important substrate in various reactions.

The determination of pipecolic acid in serum and urine
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1972Abstract A method is described for the determination of the imino acid, pipecolic acid in serum and urine. Serum is deproteinised with absolute ethanol and urine is desalted by ion exchange chromatography. Pipecolic acid is partially separated from amimo acids present in serum and urine by ascending paper chromatography.
