Synthesis of 2‐(Trifluoromethyl)Azetidines by Strain‐Release Reactions of 2‐(Trifluoromethyl)‐1‐Azabicyclo[1.1.0]Butanes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
2‐(Trifluoromethyl)‐1‐azabicyclo[1.1.0]butanes, available by diastereoselective cyclopropanation of 2‐(trifluoromethyl)‐2H‐azirines, can be successfully involved in strain‐release ring‐opening processes, as illustrated by their reaction with benzyl chloroformate, trifluoroacetic anhydride or palladium‐catalyzed hydrogenolysis.

Photocatalysis Enables Chemodivergent Radical Polar Crossover: Ritter‐Type Amidation vs Heck‐Type Olefin Carbofunctionalizations

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
One aryl makes the difference: switching styrenes with 1,1‐diaryl olefins as radical acceptors, the benzylic cation intermediate fate changes from Ritter‐type carboamidation to Heck‐type reaction. The decarboxylative photocatalytic chemodivergent methodology enabled broad scope and efficient scalability in both batch and flow.

Osteosarcoma Cell and Osteosarcoma Stem Cell Potent Immunogenic Bi‐Nuclear Gallium(III) Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Current treatment options are unable to benefit the majority of osteosarcoma patients with metastasized tumors (70–80% 5‐year fatality rate). Osteosarcoma stem cells (OSCs), a small sub‐population of osteosarcoma cells with stem cell‐like properties, are thought to play a role in the spread of osteosarcoma. In this manuscript, we report the first metal
