On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

Complications of endoscopic surgery of the pituitary adenomas: analysis of 570 patients and review of the literature

open access: yes, 2011
Endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery is emerging as a minimally invasive and maximally effective procedure for pituitary adenomas. In this report we analyzed the complications in 624 procedures of endonasal transsphenoidal endoscopic surgery in the ...

Detection of the GH Analogue Redalsomatropin Alfa in Sports Drug Testing: Immunological Approaches and LC‐HRMS/MS

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
After evaluating the compatibility of the GH analogue redalsomatropin alfa with approved doping control immunoassays for rhGH, it was implemented into the existing detection method for somatrogon employing affinity purification with GHR‐Fc‐conjugated magnetic beads, tryptic digestion, and LC‐HRMS/MS to allow for a specific and sensitive detection ...

Analysis and Characterization of Kisspeptin and Its Analogues in Serum and Urine Samples by Liquid Chromatography–High‐Resolution Mass Spectrometry for Doping Control Purposes

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Sensitive LC‐HRMS methods were established for the detection of kisspeptin and its analogues in serum and urine, alongside their analytical and metabolic characterization. Stability studies were conducted in serum, plasma, and urine, highlighting the importance of appropriate sample handling for reliable anti‐doping analysis.

Comparison of three methods for the estimation of the pituitary gland volume using magnetic resonance imaging: a stereological study

open access: yes, 2010
Stereological techniques using point counting and planimetry have been used to estimate pituitary gland volume. However, many studies have estimated pituitary gland volume by the mathematical approach the elliptic formula.

Elimination Profile of Deflazacort and Metabolites in Urine and Plasma Following Oral Administration: Relevance to Sports Drug Testing

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Results confirm that the MRL of 30 ng/mL for 21‐desacetyl‐deflazacort together with a 3‐day washout period is an appropriated strategy to detect oral deflazacort administration in sport competition. ABSTRACT Deflazacort (DEF) is a glucocorticoid prohibited in sports competitions when orally administered.

Clinicopathological significance of baseline T2-weighted signal intensity in functional pituitary adenomas

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose To assess baseline T2-weighted signal intensity (T2-WSI) of functional pituitary adenomas (FPA), and to investigate the relationship of baseline T2-WSI with clinical features, histopathological granulation patterns, and response to treatment in ...
