Histochemical Tests for Polyphenols in Plant Tissues

Stain Technology, 1951
A satisfactory histochemical test for polyphenols in fresh plant tissues is described. The test is based upon a colorimetric method for phenolics using a nitrous acid reaction. Certain catechol derivatives are characterized by the formation of an intense cherry-red in fresh sections of plant tissues with the reagents used. The red color is sufficiently

[Microbial synthesis of plant polyphenols].

Sheng wu gong cheng xue bao = Chinese journal of biotechnology, 2021
Plant polyphenols are phenylpropanoid derivatives including phenolic acids, stilbenes, curcumins and flavonoids. These compounds display a variety of biological and pharmacological activities such as antioxidation, vasorelaxation, anti-coagulation, anti-inflammation, anti-tumor and anti-virus, conferring a huge application potential in the sectors of ...

Interactions of polyphenols with proteins in plants and plant products

Qualitas Plantarum Plant Foods for Human Nutrition, 1975
The plant polyphenols are a very heterogeneous group, some universally and others widely distributed among plants, and often present in surprisingly high concentrations. There have been diverse speculations about their significance for the life of the plant. For present purposes, they are conveniently discussed astannins andnon-tannins. Tannin-protein

Polyphenol-Rich Medicinal Plants

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a leading neurodegenerative disorder marked by memory loss, cognitive decline, and β-amyloid plaques in the brain. Current treatments offer only short-term relief. This chapter explores the role of plant-derived polyphenols—flavonoids, phenolic acids, and lignans from Ginkgo biloba, Curcuma longa, Camellia sinensis, and ...
