Mental disorders are a severe health problem, and the number of patients is growing worldwide. Increased anxiety and decreased motivation due to excessive mental stress further accelerated the severity of the problem. Enzymatic digestion of food proteins produces bioactive peptides with various physiological functions, some of which exhibit ...

The Influence of Plant Lectins on Immune Response against other Dietary Proteins
1998This study demonstrates that the proportion of administered dietary protein absorbed was higher for the lectins Phaseolus vulgaris agglutinin and Pisum sativum agglutinin as compared to Bowman Birk inhibitor and ovomucoid. A kidney bean extract containing P. vulgaris agglutinin broke down oral tolerance in mice fed ovomucoid.

Journal of Insect Behavior, 1991
Schistocerca americanasixth-instar nymphs were examined for a change in diet acceptance, in which insects experiencing an unfavorable diet subsequently become predisposed to eat relatively less of that diet and more of diets with a novel flavor than they would had they previously fed on a more adequate diet.

Dietary plant-to-animal protein ratio and risk of cardiovascular disease in 3 prospective cohorts
The American Journal of Clinical NutritionDietary guidelines recommend substituting animal protein with plant protein, however, the ideal ratio of plant-to-animal protein (P:A) remains unknown. We aimed to evaluate associations between the P:A ratio and incident cardiovascular disease (CVD), coronary artery disease (CAD), and stroke in 3 cohorts.Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazard ...

Effects of dietary plant proteins on immune system in turbot juveniles Psetta maxima
2012The impact of fish meal replacement with plant proteins on fish health is still poorly investigated. This study evaluates the effects of several diets containing graded levels of a mixture of gluten meal, soybean meal and soy protein concentrate on some immune parameters of turbot juveniles.

Amidst the challenges posed by climate change, individuals are increasingly making dietary choices to mitigate environmental impact. Conventional meat production contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, further impacting the issue of global warming. Evidence shows plant-based diets can play a role in reducing these emissions and in the United States, 6%
