Measurement of measles virus-specific neutralizing antibodies: evaluation of the syncytium inhibition assay in comparison with the plaque reduction neutralization test

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1999
Plaque reduction neutralization (PRN) is the "gold-standard" for the measurement of measles-specific neutralizing antibodies. However, it is a complicated assay and tends to be operator-dependent. It has been suggested that the simpler syncytium inhibition assay (SIA) can give results comparable to the PRN test.

Plaque reduction neutralization test for human cytomegalovirus based upon enhanced uptake of neutral red by virus-infected cells

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1976
Foci of cells infected with human cytomegalovirus were noted to stain more intensely than uninfected cells with neutral red, and this provided the basis for development of a plaque assay and plaque reduction neutralization test for cytomegalovirus. Plaques demonstrable by neutral red staining could be counted at 8 days after infection; thus, results ...

METHOD VALIDATION: QUANTITATION OF ANTI-HANTA VIRUS NEUTRALIZING ANTIBODIES BY THE VIRAL PLAQUE REDUCTION NEUTRALIZATION TEST

2013
The Hantavirus Plaque Reduction Neutralization Test (PRNT) used at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) was validated by quantifying anti-Hantaan (HTNV) neutralizing antibodies (NAb) using applicable performance parameters and FY07-30 clinical sera. The assay demonstrated precision, accuracy, and linearity within the

Plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT50) for the detection of anti-yellow fever antibodies from clinical samples

Vaccine
Yellow fever (YF) is a mosquito-borne viral haemorrhagic disease that remains endemic in parts of South America and Africa. Although there is a safe and effective vaccine that has been available for over 75 years, YF remains a public health problem in areas with endemic as well as sporadic transmission.

[Comparison between the plaque reduction neutralization test and the hemagglutination inhibition test in determination of human anti-measles antibodies].

Zhonghua liu xing bing xue za zhi = Zhonghua liuxingbingxue zazhi, 1996
In order to evaluate the difference between plaque reduction neutralization test (PNt) and hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test on human anti-measles antibodies, pre- and postimmunization sera collected from 328 infants aged 3-6 months who were immunized with Shanghai 191 measles vaccine, were detected by both methods.

Antigenic relationships of equine herpesvirus strains demonstrated by the plaque reduction and neutralization kinetics tests.

Canadian journal of comparative medicine : Revue canadienne de medecine comparee, 1972
The antigenic relationships among 50 strains of equine herpesvirus (EHV) were studied by neutralization tests using antisera prepared in rabbits against four EHV reference strains: types 2 and 3, cytomegalo-like virus 82-A, and our leukocyte isolant H-40.
