Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm

Current Treatment Options in Oncology, 2019
While there is a high initial response rate with standard chemotherapeutic regimens for blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN), the responses are typically not durable and this remains a very aggressive disease with generally poor outcomes.

Human and mouse plasmacytoid dendritic cells

Human Immunology, 2002
By virtue of their enormous potential to produce type I interferons it is clear that plasmacytoid dendritic cells are major players in the host defense against viruses and various pathogens. Plasmacytoid dendritic cells were first identified in humans and very recently the mouse equivalents have been isolated.

Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Leukemia in Children

Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, 2009
CD4/CD56 malignancies are rare hematologic neoplasms, which have recently been shown to represent the malignant counterpart of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC). A 5-year-old boy initially presented with multiple subcutaneous lesions on his upper and lower extremities. Skin biopsy results showed large atypical lymphoid cells in the dermis.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells and autoimmune inflammation

bchm, 2013
Abstract Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) are a sub-population of dendritic cells (DC) that produce large amounts of type I interferon (IFN) in response to nucleic acids that bind and activate toll-like-receptor (TLR)9 and TLR7. Type I IFN can regulate the function of B, T, DC, and natural killer (NK) cells and can also alter the ...

The multifaceted murine plasmacytoid dendritic cell

Human Immunology, 2002
Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (PDCs) or natural interferon-producing cells, function as the body's innate defense against viral infections. As discussed here, they may play additional roles in response to bacterial pathogens and may have the capacity to induce different type of T-cell responses depending on what signals they receive.
