Aptamer‐Engineered Liposomal Platform Enables in Situ cDC1 Vaccination to Potentiate Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is immunologically ‘cold’, with scarce, dysfunctional type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) that limit T cell priming. We introduce an aptamer‐targeted liposomedelivering FMS‐like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) and chlorin e6 (Ce6). Ultrasound induces antigen release and cDC1s recruitment, creating an in situ cDC1 vaccine.

Macrophages Do Not Represent the Main Cell Type in Sequestrated and Extruded Intervertebral Discs: Evidence for Their Involvement in Disc Resorption, Rather than Initiation of an Immune Response

open access: yesGlobal Spine Journal, 2014
Introduction Herniated disc tissue have been reported to be infiltrated predominately by macrophages. 1,2 Number of macrophages in herniated disc tissue was found to be dependent on type of disc herniation.

Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells Mediate Oral Tolerance [PDF]

open access: yesImmunity, 2008
Oral tolerance prevents oral sensitization to dietary antigens (Ags), including proteins and haptens, and development of delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) responses. We showed here that plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) prevented oral T cell priming and were responsible for systemic tolerance to CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cell-mediated DTH responses ...

Nanomedicine Meets Immunotherapy: Advancing Adoptive Cell Therapy with Nanoparticles in the Treatment of Cancer with Sustainability Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review surveys nanoparticle‐based strategies to enhance adoptive cell therapy, particularly CAR‐T cell approaches, in solid tumor treatment. It describes how nanoparticles can improve tumor immunogenicity and T‐cell infiltration while reducing toxicity, and how they enable in vivo CAR‐T cell generation.

Dendritic Cell and Regulatory T Cell numbers in relation to Breast Cancer Progression and Metastasis [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Arts
Background: Breast cancer ranks as the second cause of cancer-related deaths in Egypt. Numerous immunomodulatory pathways underscore the immune system’s involvement in cancer prognosis.

GM-CSF Inhibits c-Kit and SCF Expression by Bone Marrow-Derived Dendritic Cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Stem cell factor (SCF), the ligand of c-kit, is a key cytokine for hematopoiesis. Hematopoietic precursors express c-kit, whereas differentiated cells of hematopoietic lineage are negative for this receptor, with the exception of NK cells, mast cells ...

Disseminated blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 2015
![Figure][1] A 63-year-old man presented with cutaneous nodules. Workup revealed anemia, thrombocytopenia, monocytosis, and 5% circulating “blasts.” Bone marrow sampling showed 33% immature-appearing cells (panel A), with occasional “tadpole” appearance (panel A, lower inset) and ...

Phenotypic profiling of pristane‐induced mimicking human systemic lupus erythematosus in Macaca fascicularis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Pristane (5 mL/kg) induced a robust systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)‐like phenotype in Macaca fascicularis, marked by elevated antinuclear antibody (ANA) levels and systemic clinical, hematological, and biochemical changes. This model closely reflects human SLE and provides a translational platform for disease studies and therapeutic evaluation ...

Chromatin Landscape Underpinning Human Dendritic Cell Heterogeneity

open access: yesCell Reports, 2020
Summary: Human dendritic cells (DCs) comprise subsets with distinct phenotypic and functional characteristics, but the transcriptional programs that dictate their identity remain elusive.

3D Microfluidic model for evaluating immunotherapy efficacy by tracking dendritic cell behaviour toward tumor cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Immunotherapy efficacy relies on the crosstalk within the tumor microenvironment between cancer and dendritic cells (DCs) resulting in the induction of a potent and effective antitumor response.
