Quercetin Reduces Vascular Senescence and Inflammation in Symptomatic Male but Not Female Coronary Artery Disease Patients

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
In male patients undergoing CABG surgery, pretreatment with quercetin suppressed inflammaging and its associated inflammation, leading to improved endothelium‐dependent relaxation (measured ex vivo) and reducing new onset of post‐operative atrial fibrillation.

Intermittent Supplementation With Fisetin Improves Physical Function and Decreases Cellular Senescence in Skeletal Muscle With Aging: A Comparison to Genetic Clearance of Senescent Cells and Synthetic Senolytic Approaches

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Supplementation with the natural senolytic agent fisetin attenuated age‐related declines in physical function in mice. Better physical function with fisetin was accompanied by lower expression of cell senescence‐related genes. Fisetin treatment had comparable effects on physical function as genetic clearance of senescent cells and synthetic senolytic ...

Role for Complement C5 in Eosinophilic Inflammation of Severe Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Complement activation module, particularly C5, is positively associated with eosinophilic inflammation in severe asthma cohorts. Elevated C5 expression correlates with poor lung function improvement and persistent eosinophilic inflammation. Mouse model studies confirm that C5 exacerbates eosinophilic inflammation, highlighting its potential as a ...

Systematic Review: Variability in Definitions of Fibrostenosis in Eosinophilic Oesophagitis

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Significant variability exists in definitions and diagnostic methods of detection regarding fibrostenosis in eosinophilic oesophagitis. Lack of consensus poses a barrier in clinical care and research. ABSTRACT Background Fibrostenosis is a serious complication of eosinophilic oesophagitis, but there is a lack of consensus regarding its definition and ...
