Effects of pentoxifylline on canine platelet aggregation

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2021
Background Pentoxifylline can decrease platelet function in humans, but the anti‐platelet effects of pentoxifylline in dogs is unknown. The addition of a luciferin–luciferase reagent during platelet aggregometry can induce a dose‐dependent potentiation ...

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

Influence of Platelet Aggregation Modulators on Cyclic AMP Production in Human Thrombocytes

open access: yesFolia Medica, 2018
Background: Cyclic AMP is a powerful inhibitor of platelet aggregation. In the present study we examined the effect of platelet aggregation modulators on cyclic AMP content in human thrombocytes.

The Influence of Haemoglobin A1c Levels on Platelet Aggregation and Platelet Turnover in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease Treated with Aspirin. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Hyperglycaemia may attenuate the antiplatelet effect of aspirin and thereby increase the risk of cardiovascular events. We investigated the influence of increased haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels on platelet aggregation and turnover in a large cohort of ...

Complement C3b contributes to Escherichia coli-induced platelet aggregation in human whole blood

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
IntroductionPlatelets have essential functions as first responders in the immune response to pathogens. Activation and aggregation of platelets in bacterial infections can lead to life-threatening conditions such as arterial thromboembolism or sepsis ...

The Effect of Paraprotein on Platelet Aggregation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, 2014
Some patients with paraproteinemia have platelet aggregation disorders and the aim of this study was to examine disturbance of platelet aggregation in healthy blood donors by isolated paraprotein in vitro.Using Rivanol, paraprotein was separated from the serum of ten patients with paraproteinemia, who had decreased platelet aggregation with several ...

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

TLR7, TLR9, MyD88, and NF-κB role on platelet aggregation in Yucatecan patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesRevista de la Alad. Asociación Latinoamericana de Diabetes, 2022
Objective: To analyze the expression of TLR7, TLR9, and signaling proteins MyD88 and NF-κB, and their relationship with platelet aggregation in Yucatecan patients with type 2 diabetes.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

An investigation of the antiplatelet effects of succinobucol (AGI-1067)

open access: yesPlatelets, 2017
Succinobucol is a phenolic antioxidant with anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet effects. Given the importance of oxidant stress in modulating platelet–platelet and platelet–vessel wall interactions, the aim of this study was to establish if antioxidant ...
