Platelet dysfunction and inhibition of multiple electrode platelet aggregometry caused by penicillin
Beta-lactam antibiotics, e.g. penicillin, may inhibit platelet function and lead to reduced response in light transmission aggregometry and adhesion. However, influence on platelet function tests more commonly used in clinical practice, such as multiple ...

Haematalogical investigations in children [PDF]
The haematology laboratory is able to perform a number of tests to help establish the cause of illness in children. The full blood count (FBC, also known as a complete blood count, CBC) is one of the most basic blood tests performed on children ...

Four hundred and ninety seven patients were referred to our center for platelet aggregation studies because of spontaneous mucocutaneous bleeds. All these patients had normal complete blood count, platelet count and peripheral smears except in ten patients of Bernard Soulier Syndrome where platelet count was marginally reduced in the presence of giant ...

Platelet function testing: dead or alive [PDF]
Essentials Pharmacodynamic response to antiplatelet medication is heterogeneous. Platelet reactivity to dual antiplatelet therapy was analyzed by three platelet function assays. The prevalence of high and low platelet reactivity differed significantly between assays.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Study of liver function test, renal function test and platelet count in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy [PDF]
Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) systematically reviews maternal mortality worldwide, and in developed countries, 16 percent of maternal deaths were due to hypertensive disorders.

Effects of tranexamic acid on platelet function and thrombin generation (ETAPlaT): WOMAN trial sub-study. [PDF]
Background. Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal death. Tranexamic acid (TXA) has the potential to reduce bleeding and a large randomized placebo controlled trial of its effect in women with PPH (The WOMAN trial) is underway.
