Dual‐Function Lipid‐Based Nanovector Strategy for Glioblastoma Immunotherapy: STING Activation and M1 Microglia Polarization

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 87, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM) remains one of the most lethal brain malignancies because of its highly immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and the limited penetration of therapeutics across the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). Although recent studies have separately explored STING agonism, microglial reprogramming, and nanocarrier‐based drug delivery, an ...

Beyond the Barrier: Epithelial Cells as Immune Sentinels in the Female Genital Tract

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Reproductive Immunology, Volume 95, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Epithelial cells (ECs) of the female genital tract (FGT) serve as an essential barrier and the first line of defense against sexually transmitted pathogens. Beyond providing a physical barrier, these cells actively contribute to immune responses through pathogen recognition, cytokine release, and modulation of adaptive immune responses ...

Pathological Role of Interleukin-17 in Poly I:C-Induced Hepatitis

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Immune-mediated responses were the main causes of liver damage during viral hepatitis, and recently viral RNA mimetic Poly I:C was used to induce a NK cell-dominated acute hepatitis. Interleukin-17A (IL-17A), the cytokine tightly associated with various autoimmune diseases, was known to play protective or pathological roles in LPS and ConA-induced ...

Gamma‐irradiated Newcastle disease virus: an alternative inactivated oncolytic virotherapy

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 473-484, May‐June 2026.
To overcome biological risks associated with using live NDV as an oncolytic therapy, we developed gamma‐NDV as a safer alternative. Using a murine model for skin cancer, we show that intratumor administration of gamma‐NDV outperformed live‐NDV in terms of reducing tumor growth and improving overall animal survival. Abstract Newcastle disease virus (NDV)

Are physiological oscillations physiological?

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 9, Page 3672-3693, 1 May 2026.
Abstract figure legend Mechanisms and functions of physiological oscillations. Abstract Despite widespread and striking examples of physiological oscillations, their functional role is often unclear. Even glycolysis, the paradigm example of oscillatory biochemistry, has seen questions about its oscillatory function.

Innate Immunity and Microbial Recognition in Reproduction: From Barrier Defense to Maternal–Fetal Tolerance

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 8, 30 April 2026.
Graphical abstract illustrating the barrier defense–tolerance framework of reproductive innate immunity. Across the female and male reproductive tracts and the maternal–fetal interface, epithelial barriers, innate sensors, immune cells, and microbial signals are integrated to preserve reproductive homeostasis.

Immunomodulatory role of paliperidone in the poly(I:C) model of schizophrenia

open access: yesEuropean Psychiatry, 2016
IntroductionAlterations on the innate inflammatory response may underlie the pathophysiology of psychiatric diseases, but the mechanisms implicated remain elusive. Current antipsychotics modulate pro/anti-inflammatory pathways, but the specific mechanisms involved remain elusive.

Effect of Poli I:C in murine model of autoimmune thyroiditis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
ABSTRACT Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is one of the most common autoimmune diseases in humans and, similar to other autoimmune diseases, is multifactorial in nature. Moreover, the expression of TLRs has been implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, such as diabetes and insulinitis.
