Heterogeneity in polyamine metabolism dictates prognosis and immune checkpoint blockade response in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Immune checkpoint blockade holds promise in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treatment, but its efficacy remains limited. Dysregulated polyamine metabolism and its interaction with oncogenic pathways promote tumor progression. However, the heterogeneity of

Differences in Polyamine Metabolism between Carcinomatous and Uninvolved Human Breast Tissues

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 1986
The polyamine biosynthetic enzymes ODC and SAMDC show higher activity in carcinomatous human breast tissue than in uninvolved tissue of the same breast; the interconversion enzyme PAO shows significantly lower activity in carcinomatous than uninvolved ...

Difluoromethylornithine (DFMO) and AMXT 1501 inhibit capsule biosynthesis in pneumococci

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Polyamines are small cationic molecules that have been linked to various cellular processes including replication, translation, stress response and recently, capsule regulation in Streptococcus pneumoniae (Spn, pneumococcus).

Polyamine Transport Assay Using Reconstituted Yeast Membranes

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2021
ATP13A2/PARK9 is a late endo-/lysosomal P5B transport ATPase that is associated with several neurodegenerative disorders. We recently characterized ATP13A2 as a lysosomal polyamine exporter, which sheds light on the molecular identity of the unknown ...

Substantially Altered Local and Systemic Immunity in Ischemia‐Free Versus Conventional Liver Transplantation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how ischemia‐free liver transplantation (IFLT) shapes both local and systemic immune responses compared with conventional liver transplantation (CLT). Our findings demonstrate that IFLT confers significant immunological protection by attenuating the STAT3‐HIF‐1α axis and enhancing the Heme‐HMOX1 pathway, two regulatory networks ...

Sabotaged Integral HSC Heterogeneity Underlies Essential Thrombocythemia Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) maps how distinct driver mutations remodel hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) programs across essential thrombocythemia (ET). Comparative analysis uncovers both shared and subtype‐specific molecular signatures, identifies a triple‐negative (TN)‐associated HSC population enriched with malignant traits, and reveals the ...

Searching for Drug Synergy Against Cancer Through Polyamine Metabolism Impairment: Insight Into the Metabolic Effect of Indomethacin on Lung Cancer Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most lethal and prevalent type of lung cancer. In almost all types of cancer, the levels of polyamines (putrescine, spermidine, and spermine) are increased, playing a pivotal role in tumor proliferation ...

Polyamine biosynthesis is critical for growth and differentiation of the pancreas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The pancreas, in most studied vertebrates, is a compound organ with both exocrine and endocrine functions. The exocrine compartment makes and secretes digestive enzymes, while the endocrine compartment, organized into islets of Langerhans, produces ...

2‐line Ferrihydrite Enhance Microbial Synthesis of Plant Biostimulants in Composted Biosolid by Regulating Phyla Pseudomonadota and Actinomycetota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores how iron and manganese oxides transform sewage sludge into plant biostimulants during composting. Non‐targeted identification reveals the main species of plant biostimulants. Metagenomic analysis reveals that 2‐line ferrihydrite specifically enriches microbial genes for biosynthesis, boosting plant‐growth promoters.
