Effect of antiandrogen flutamide on measures of hepatic regeneration in rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Male rat liver undergoes a process of demasculinization during hepatic regeneration following partial hepatectomy. The possibility that antiandrogens might potentiate this demasculinization process and in so doing augment the hepatic regenerative ...

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Ultra‐High‐Throughput Discovery of Multifunctional Polyphenolic Coatings on Droplet Microarrays

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ultra‐high‐throughput (UHT) combinatorial strategy enables the miniaturized synthesis and screening of ≈30 000 polyamine‐polyphenolic (PaPp) coatings using droplet microarrays (DMA). This approach reveals hundreds of previously unknown fluorescent, redox‐active, and antibacterial materials, including multifunctional, cell‐compatible surfaces ...

A Cyclodextrin Hydrogel For Polyamine Capturing In Periodontitis Treatment

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Aim or purpose: Polyamine accumulation exacerbates inflammation and tissue destruction in periodontitis, but its therapeutic potential remains unclear, and this study evaluates a polyamine-scavenging hydrogel for periodontitis inflammation by restoring ...

Antizyme Inhibitors in Polyamine Metabolism and Beyond: Physiopathological Implications

open access: yesMedical Sciences, 2018
The intracellular levels of polyamines, cationic molecules involved in a myriad of cellular functions ranging from cellular growth, differentiation and apoptosis, is precisely regulated by antizymes and antizyme inhibitors via the modulation of the ...

Mycolicibacterium smegmatis possesses operational agmatinase but contains no detectable polyamines

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mycobacteriology, 2020
Background: Polyamines are widespread intracellular molecules able to influence antibiotic susceptibility, but almost nothing is known on their occurrence and physiological role in mycobacteria.

The Development of Polyamines throughout Brassica rapa over its Lifecycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Polyamines are naturally produced chemicals in plants involved in growth, development and stress response. The primary objective of my study is to create a profile of changes in the entire life of the plant, in every organ at all stages of development ...

Leveraging Macrophage Metabolic Reprogramming for Enhanced Anti‐Tumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) are key regulators of the tumor microenvironment (TME), with their metabolic states playing a critical role in tumor progression or regression. This review summarizes current understanding of TAM metabolic plasticity alongside cutting‐edge bioengineering innovations, outlining a roadmap for transforming the ...

Genetically encoded fluorescent reporter for polyamines

open access: yesNature Communications
Polyamines are abundant and evolutionarily conserved metabolites that are essential for life. Dietary polyamine supplementation extends life-span and health-span. Dysregulation of polyamine homeostasis is linked to Parkinson’s disease and cancer, driving

Abrupt Transition from a Free, Repulsive to a Condensed, Attractive DNA Phase, Induced by Multivalent Polyamine Cations

open access: yes, 2008
We have investigated the energetics of DNA condensation by multivalent polyamine cations. Solution small angle x-ray scattering was used to monitor interactions between short 25 base pair dsDNA strands in the free supernatant DNA phase that coexists with
