Amino oxidase amperometric biosensor for polyamines

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1991
Abstract An improved amino oxidase enzyme electrode has been constructed and applied to the determination of the amount of polyamines present in real samples. The electrode is based on the amperometric detection of H 2 O 2 produced in the enzymatic oxidation of polyamines by amino oxidase.

Inhibition of the respiratory burst of human neutrophils by the polyamine oxidase-polyamine system

International Journal of Immunopharmacology, 1986
The addition of the polyamines, spermine and spermidine, to human neutrophils caused a depression of the hexose-monophosphate (HMP) shunt activity of neutrophils stimulated with latex particles but not of unstimulated cells. The effect was dependent on the presence of bovine serum and was not observed when normal human serum was substituted for bovine ...

Polyamine oxidase and tissue transglutaminase activation in rat small intestine by polyamines

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1999
Polyamine degradation was studied in the small intestine from rats fed on a polyamine-supplemented diet. Lactalbumin diet was given to Hooded-Lister rats, with or without 5 mg rat(-1) day(-1) of putrescine or spermidine for 5 days. Polyamine oxidase activity increased with putrescine and spermidine in the diet, whereas spermidine/spermine N(1 ...

Polyamines, polyamine oxidases and nitric oxide in development, abiotic and biotic stresses

Plant Science, 2011
Nitric oxide (NO), polyamines (PAs), diamine oxidases (DAO) and polyamine oxidases (PAO) play important roles in wide spectrum of physiological processes such as germination, root development, flowering and senescence and in defence responses against abiotic and biotic stress conditions.

The polyamine oxidase inactivator MDL 72527

2002
Polyamine oxidase is a FAD-dependent amine oxidase, which is constitutively expressed in nearly all tissues of the vertebrate organism. In 1985, N1,N4-bis(2,3-butadienyl)-1,4-butanediamine (MDL 72527) was designed as a selective enzyme-activated irreversible inhibitor of polyamine oxidase (EC 1.5.3.11).

Polyamine oxidase of millet shoots

Phytochemistry, 1986
Abstract Polyamine oxidase was purified ca 168-fold from the acetone powder extract of millet shoots. The light yellow enzyme had maximum absorption at 278,380 and 460 nm. The absorption at 380 and 460 nm was decreased by the addition of spermidine. The enzyme (M, ca 80 000) showed a high specificity for spermine and spermidine (Kms 6 × 10−5 M and 5 ×

Inhibition of diamine oxidases and polyamine oxidases by diamine-based compounds

Journal of Neural Transmission, 2007
This review reports on inhibitors of copper-containing amine oxidases and flavoprotein polyamine oxidases, which are structurally based on diamines. In the introduction, basic characteristics and classification of amine oxidases are described together with the significance of their synthetic inhibitors.

THE DISTRIBUTION OF POLYAMINE OXIDASE ACTIVITY IN THE FETOMATERNAL COMPARTMENTS

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1979
SummaryPolyamine oxidase activity was measured in different compartments of the feto‐maternal unit by a radiochemical method. The activity in the retroplacental serum (mainly of intervillous origin) was 20 to 30 times higher than in maternal uterine or peripheral venous blood sera. No activity was found in the fetal cord blood sera. The enzyme level in

POLYAMINE OXIDASE ACTIVITY IN HUMAN PREGNANCY SERUM

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1979
SummaryThe existence of a spermine oxidizing enzyme was established in human pregnancy serum by a radiochemical method, and a cross‐sectional study of its quantitative profile between 10 and 40 weeks gestation was undertaken. Though there was a wide scatter of values, the rise in the average activity was continuous and highly significant.

Micro determination of polyamines with snake venom oxidase

Analytical Biochemistry, 1979
Abstract An accurate micromethod suitable for the assay of polyamines in concentrations of 2 to 30 nmol is described. It is based on the oxidation of polyamines by purified fractions of crude l -amino acid oxidase from Russell's viper venom. By a combination of two enzyme fractions, one which oxidizes polyamines and amino acids (AAP) and another ...
