Partial Purification and Kinetic Properties of Polygalacturonase from Solanum macrocarpum L. Fruit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background and Objective: Polygalacturonase [Poly (1, 4-"-D-galacturonide) glucanohydrolase, E.C 3.2.1.15] is a subclass of pectinase that hydrolyzes the glycosidic linkages between galacturonic acid residues in polygalacturonans.

A Profusion of Molecular Scissors for Pectins: Classification, Expression, and Functions of Plant Polygalacturonases

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
In plants, the construction, differentiation, maturation, and degradation of the cell wall are essential for development. Pectins, which are major constituents of primary cell walls in eudicots, function in multiple developmental processes through their ...

What newton did not discover about falling palm fruit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The oil palm (Elaeis guineensis), a monocotyledonous species in the family Arecaceae, has not only an extraordinarily oil rich fleshy mesocarp, and presents an original model to examine the ripening regulatory networks in a monocot fruit tissue.

AFM study of strawberry pectin nanostructure and its relevance on fruit texture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been used to characterize the nanostructure of cell wall pectins during strawberry fruit growth and ripening, as well as in transgenic fruits with pectinase genes downregulated.

Response of arum lily calli to culture filtrate of Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum [PDF]

open access: yes
This report demonstrated that culture filtrate of Pectobacterium carotovorum ssp. carotovorum isolate ZT0505, the pathogen of bacterial soft rot disease of arum lily (Zantedeschia sp.), contained extracellular enzymes and caused arum lily leaf tissue and

Polygalacturonase from Sitophilus oryzae: Possible horizontal transfer of a pectinase gene from fungi to weevils

open access: yesJournal of Insect Science, 2003
Endo-polygalacturonase, one of the group of enzymes known collectively as pectinases, is widely distributed in bacteria, plants and fungi. The enzyme has also been found in several weevil species and a few other insects, such as aphids, but not in ...

Plant Polygalacturonases Involved in Cell Elongation and Separation—The Same but Different?

open access: yesPlants, 2014
Plant cells are surrounded by the primary cell wall, a rigid framework that needs to be modified in order to allow cell growth. Recent data suggest that in addition to the cellulose-hemicellulose network, the pectin matrix plays a critical role in ...

The effects of inorganic salts on biosynthesis of pectinolytic enzymes by Aspergillus Niger [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper examines effects of different inorganic salts in an apple pulp base on the production of pectinolytic enzymes with the aim of optimizing the medium for maximal enzyme production.

Purification and characterization of tomato polygalacturonase converter [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1984
Extracts of ripe tomatoes contain two forms of polygalacturonase (PG I and PG II). A heat‐stable component that binds PG II to produce PG I has been isolated from tomato fruit. This component has been named polygalacturonase converter (PG converter). The PG converter has been purified by gel filtration, ion‐exchange chromatography and chromatofocusing.
