Plant‐Derived Monomers for Grey Hair Reversal Through Upregulation of Melanogenesis and Tyrosinase Activity

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 29, Issue 11, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Grey hair, a common ageing‐associated phenomenon in humans, is mainly attributed to the damage of melanocytes and the absence of melanin. Grey hair has long been treated with traditional medicine, and new research has shown that various plant‐derived monomers can increase tyrosinase activity and melanogenesis, indicating that they may have ...

Natural History of Idiosyncratic Drug‐Induced Liver Injury and Prognostic Models

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims: Drug‐induced liver injury (DILI) remains a leading cause of acute liver failure worldwide. Drugs such as isoniazid, alone or in combination with other anti‐tuberculosis drugs, as well as a growing number of herbal and complementary medicines, have been implicated in most cases of acute liver failure in registry studies ...

Processing‐induced reduction in dianthrones content and toxicity of Polygonum multiflorum: Insights from ultra‐high performance liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometry analysis and toxicological assessment

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 8, Issue 4, Page 685-695, April 2025.
In this study, we conducted measurements to determine the content of dianthrones in Polygoni Multiflori Radix (PMR) and Polygoni Multiflori Radix Praeparata (PMRP) samples from different stages of processing. Furthermore, we evaluated their hepatotoxicity using the human hepatocyte cell line L02 and Zebrafish embryos.

Emodin Suppresses Fluoride‐Induced Pyroptosis in SH‐SY5Y Cells Through the Inhibition of NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation

open access: yesJournal of Food Biochemistry, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Our preliminary investigation has unveiled that emodin may inhibit the neurotoxic effects of sodium fluoride (NaF) on SH‐SY5Y cells by deactivating ERK and activating the Nrf2/HO‐1 signaling pathway. This action thereby restores synaptic damage and reduces excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation.

An optimized short‐term steroid therapy for chronic drug‐induced liver injury: A prospective randomized clinical trial

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 44, Issue 6, Page 1435-1447, June 2024.
Abstract Background and Aims The use of corticosteroids in chronic drug‐induced liver injury (DILI) is an important issue. Our previous randomized controlled trial showed that patients with chronic DILI benefited from a 48‐week steroid stepwise reduction (SSR) regimen.

Rapid Quality Assessment of Polygoni Multiflori Radix Based on Near‐Infrared Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The precise and prompt determination of quality control indicators such as moisture, stilbene glycosides, and anthraquinone glycosides is crucial in assessing the quality of Polygoni Multiflori Radix. Near‐infrared spectroscopy is a nondestructive analytical technique that offers a more desirable approach than traditional methods for assessing content ...

Predictive Assessment of the Antiviral Properties of Imperata cylindrica against SARS‐CoV‐2

open access: yesAdvances in Virology, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The omicron variant and its sublineages are highly contagious, and they still constitute a global source of concern despite vaccinations. Hospitalizations and mortality rates resulting from infections by these variants of concern are still common.

TSG Extends the Longevity of Caenorhabditis elegans by Targeting the DAF-16/SKN-1/SIR-2.1-Mediated Mitochondrial Quality Control Process

open access: yesAntioxidants
The improvement of mitochondrial function is described as a strategy for alleviating oxidative stress and intervening in the aging process. 2,3,5,4′-Tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside (TSG) is one of the major bioactive components isolated from ...
