ABSTRACT This study compared tear film exposure and retention of four chloramphenicol ophthalmic formulations in dogs, evaluating the effects of drug concentration (0.2% to 5%) and vehicle type (solution vs. ointment). Eight healthy dogs were enrolled in a randomized paired‐eye crossover study consisting of two sessions with a 7‐day washout.

Polymyxin B broth disk elution as a screening test to determine polymyxin B susceptibility in enterobacterales [PDF]
Detection of polymyxins susceptibility by clinical laboratories is a nightmare mainly because of physicochemical properties of the drug. The aim of this study was to evaluate accuracy of Polymyxin B Broth Disk Elution (PBDE), as screening test, compared ...

Polymyxin B use does not ensure endotoxin-free solution [PDF]
Polymyxin B is often added to in vitro samples to `ensure' that endotoxin activity is removed. We present data, from the standard rabbit pyrogen test and the Limulus amebocyte lysate assay, that polymyxin B bound to a gel support will bind some, but not ...

Host tissue cues including temperature, oxygen, and iron availability regulate expression of the Yersinia type III secretion system (T3SS) master regulator LcrF. We found that CpxR inhibits LcrF through an indirect, multi‐factorial mechanism and identified the osmolarity‐sensing OmpR/EnvZ system as an additional regulator of LcrF, highlighting ...

Prevalence of Antimicrobial Use in Small Animal Dermatology Referral Practices in the United States
ABSTRACT Background Antimicrobial resistance is a critical global health concern driven by antimicrobial use. Dermatological conditions are common reasons for antimicrobial prescriptions in small animal practice, yet data on prescribing patterns in veterinary dermatology referral settings are lacking. Hypothesis/Objectives To characterise the frequency,
