Bullous striae distensae in a young patient with cardiomyopathy
Striae distensae (SD), also known as stretch marks, are observable linear scars that appear where dermal damage has occurred as a result of prolonged stretching of the skin. The actual pathophysiology of SD is still up for debate because its origins are

(1) Background: Three-dimensional cultures are useful tools to evaluate regenerative approaches in vitro, as they may mimic the spatial arrangement of cells more closely to natural tissues than routine 2D culture methods. (2) Methods: We investigated the

Using long ssDNA polynucleotides to amplify STRs loci in degraded DNA samples. [PDF]
Obtaining informative short tandem repeat (STR) profiles from degraded DNA samples is a challenging task usually undermined by locus or allele dropouts and peak-high imbalances observed in capillary electrophoresis (CE) electropherograms, especially for ...

Polydeoxyribonucleotides Pre-Clinical Findings in Bone Healing: A Scoping Review
Aim: Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) is a chain-like polymer derived from DNA. Recent in vitro and animal studies have showcased the beneficial impacts of PDRN on the process of bone mending, whether used on its own or in conjunction with other substances

Carbethoxylation of Polynucleotides [PDF]
Diethyl pyrocarbonate has been shown to react with poly(A), poly(C) and poly(G) but poly(U) does not react. Diethyl pyrocarbonate appears to carbethoxylate amino groups on the bases. Poly(A) can bind one carbethoxy group per base but the binding capacity of poly(G) and poly(C) under non‐denaturing conditions is 0.32 and 0.23, respectively.

Dry/Wet Cycling and the Thermodynamics and Kinetics of Prebiotic Polymer Synthesis
The endoergic nature of protein and nucleic acid assembly in aqueous media presents two questions that are fundamental to the understanding of life’s origins: (i) how did the polymers arise in an aqueous prebiotic world; and (ii) once formed in some ...

Fast microwave heating-based one-step synthesis of DNA and RNA modified gold nanoparticles
Simple methods for attaching polynucleotides to gold nanoparticles are of interest for simplifying conjugation in a range of applications. Here, the authors report a microwave heating-based method for the fast, one-step attachment of a range of thiolated

Kinetic studies on the phosphorolysis of polynucleotides by polynucleotide phosphorylase
The kinetics of the phosphorolysis of polynucleotide (as differentiated from oligonucleotide) by polynucleotide phosphorylase of Micrococcus luteus has been investigated. Double reciprocal plots of initial velocity against either inorganic phosphate or polynucleotide concentration are linear, and furthermore, the affinity of the enzyme for either ...
