Sex-specific effect of dietary fatty acids on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
BackgroundNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease is the most common chronic hepatic disease worldwide. Dietary fatty acid is tightly associated with the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease but few large-scale and in-depth clinical researches have

Hydrated lime matrix decreases ruminal biohydrogenation of flaxseed fatty acids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients for humans, but dietary intake of these nutrients by many Americans is inadequate due to low consumption of omega-3-rich foods such as fish, walnuts, and flaxseed.

Decoding Undesirable Inflammatory Responses of Nucleic Acid‐Delivering Lipid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) enable efficient nucleic acid delivery, but their immunogenicity is a double‐edged sword. This review explores LNP‐driven innate and adaptive immunity, covering lipid components, endosomal escape, and nucleic acid sensing.

Amplification of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress via Inhibiting Lipid Droplet Formation to Enhance Chemodynamic Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An endoplasmic reticulum (ER)‐targeted chemodynamic nanoagent (TCBQ/iLD‐ER NPs) comprising •OH‐generating tetrachloro‐1,4‐benzoquinone (TCBQ) and lipid droplets (LDs) formation inhibitor (iLD) is developed for chemodynamic immunotherapy of tumors. After ingestion by cancer cells, TCBQ/iLD‐ER NPs preferentially accumulate in the ER and react with ER ...

Trans isomers contents of the fatty acids in meat products. (III) Adipose tissue and intramuscular fat from beef

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 1993
We give the results obtained for the determination of trans fatty acids in subcutaneous and intramuscular fats from different veal carcasses, using gas chromatography. FA composition differs clearly between both tissues, showing mean values of 58.7% SFA,

Fatty acid composition of plasma lipids in healthy Portuguese children: Is the Mediterranean diet disappearing? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Background: Adults and children in Mediterranean countries are believed to consume a Mediterranean-type diet wh ich is h ig her in monounsaturated a nd n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids than compared to central and northern parts of Europe and has ...

Video and Text‐Based Supplemental Health Information and Consumer Willingness to Pay for Nutrient‐Enhanced Eggs

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nutritional information is very important in the food choices of consumers. However, when they are too scientific or technical, they have the potential to confuse consumers, resulting in information asymmetry and dissuading them from making beneficial choices.

Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.

The protection of the unsaturated fatty acids of dried grass and sunflower seed against biohydrogenation by rumen micro-organisms : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Science in Animal Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Ryegrass which had been dried and treated with HCHO was incubated with the rumen contents of a pasture-grazed cow. The protein in the grass was protected from degradation by the rumen microbes.
