A century of art dealing in New York. The rise of American art

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, Volume 79, Issue 1, Page 281-311, February 2026.
Abstract We study art trade in New York between 1870 and 1970, analysing returns on investment by the renowned Knoedler gallery to shed light on the evolution of the American art market. A generalist art gallery should allocate investments to equalize expected returns, with differences in effective returns depending on purchase prices, number of traded

Agricultural System Resilience of Industrial Hemp: An Exploratory Value Web Analysis in the Swabian Alb

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study assessed the industrial hemp value web resilience in the Swabian Alb, Southern Germany, where regional implementation remains limited despite hemp's bioeconomy potential. Using an indicator framework and stakeholder interviews, the research found the small, fluctuating cultivation area (e.g., 25 ha in 2024) focuses on hemp seed valorisation;

Use of the method of measurement of chlorophyll fluorescence to determine the phytotoxicity of mesotrione in poppy (Papaver somniferum) in relation to application factors

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2010
The aim of the research work was to evaluate phytotoxicity of mesotrione in poppy (Papaver somniferum). The amount of spraying water (150, 300 and 450 l per hectare) was compared as well. In the end, the different growth stimulators (Atonik – 0.6 l .

Physical Activity as a Tool to Improve Sleep Quality for Secure Psychiatric Inpatients: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 35, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT People with a severe mental illness (SMI) often experience insomnia and disrupted sleep–wake cycles. Daytime physical activity (PA) can retrain the sleep/wake cycle, but PA engagement is often markedly low in SMI. It is hypothesised that frequent, intermittent, short bouts of daytime PA can improve sleep outcomes in SMI.

Stacked scattering: The key to bright flowers lies in the mesophyll

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 113, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Premise The coloration of flowers is caused by wavelength‐selective absorption by pigments and scattering of light by floral structures. Although the molecular, physiological, and chemical properties of floral pigments have been studied in considerable detail, how floral structures contribute to the visual signal remains largely unknown.

Trends in novel opioid use and detections in exposures and police drug seizures in New South Wales

open access: yesDrug and Alcohol Review, Volume 45, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Introduction Novel opioids, including non‐medical and non‐opium‐based opioids such as fentanyl analogues and nitazenes, pose a significant risk of harm due to their high potency. There is little published data on novel opioid detections and harms in Australia, yet they are implicated in multiple deaths.
