Benzothiazole (BTH) Induced Resistance of Navel Orange Fruit and Maintained Fruit Quality during Storage

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2021
Current research aimed at studying the effect of benzothiazole (BTH) on the fruit quality and resistance against Penicillium italicum (P. italicum). Recently, a synthetically prepared novel BTH was introduced that elicits the induction of resistance ...

Strategies to Delay Ethylene-Mediated Ripening in Climacteric Fruits: Implications for Shelf Life Extension and Postharvest Quality [PDF]

open access: yes
Climacteric fruits undergo a characteristic ripening process regulated by ethylene, a key plant hormone. Extending the shelf life of these fruits while preserving their postharvest quality poses a significant challenge for the food industry.

Osmolytes and CsAQP expression jointly influence water physiology in the peel and pulp of orange (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) fruit during postharvest water loss

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Water loss is a serious issue affecting the quality of postharvest horticultural products. Aquaporins (AQPs) regulate the transport of water across biological membranes, along the gradient of water potential, and may play a role in water loss.

Multifunctional Properties of Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) Essential Oil: Antimicrobial, Antibiofilm, and Insecticidal Effects

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, EarlyView.
Unveiling the potential of Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) essential oil. ABSTRACT This study investigated the antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and insecticidal properties of wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens L.) essential oil (GPEO). The EO was chemically characterized by GC–MS, confirming methyl salicylate as the predominant compound (99.3%).

Engineering a Multifunctional g‐C3N4/TiO2 Active Packaging Film With Enhanced Barrier and Photocatalytic Properties for Postharvest Preservation of Plum Fruit

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
The engineered g‐C3N4/TiO2@PVA active packaging film efficiently degrades exogenous ethylene under LED irradiation, effectively suppressing the endogenous ripening pathway of “Wushan” plums. Combined with enhanced barrier properties, this multifunctional film significantly delays the climacteric respiration peak and extends fruit shelf life.
