Synchronization‐Dissipation in the Cardiorespiratory System
By modeling central nervous coupling and viscoelastic interactions in the cardiorespiratory system we show that synchronization produces a 10% gain in cardiac efficiency in humans. It is surmised that respiratory sinus arrhythmia improves cardiac pumping efficiency by reducing dynamic stress and power dissipation in the pulmonary vasculature.

An investigation into the combination of nifedipine with potassium channel openers as potential tocolytic therapy for preterm labour; and a novel potassium channel blocker as potential therapy for post-partum haemorrhage [PDF]
Background Preterm labour and post-partum haemorrhage are leading causes of pregnancy morbidity and mortality. Previous work identified potassium channels expressed in myometrium and hypothesized modulation of channels with greater expression in MSMC ...

Flexoelectricity in Photoconversion: Fundamentals, Materials, and Outlooks
Mechanical bending of a flexible cantilever induces a strain gradient in the photoactive material. The resulting flexoelectric field couples with photovoltaic and photoconductive effects, modulating charge generation, separation, and collection. A comparative analysis of oxide perovskites, halide perovskites, and two‐dimensional materials is presented,
