PPARγ against Tumors by Different Signaling Pathways

Oncology Research and Treatment, 2013
The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPARγ) belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily, and is expressed in adipose tissue, skeletal muscle, spleen, heart, liver, placenta, lung, and ovary. PPARγ is a critical regulator of inflammation, adipocyte differentiation, glucose homeostasis, and tumorigenesis ...

Oridonin is an antidepressant molecule working through the PPAR-γ/AMPA receptor signaling pathway

Biochemical Pharmacology, 2020
Oridonin is a diterpene compound that regulates the activity of PPAR-γ (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma) transcription factor. Cumulative evidence indicates that AMPA (α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionic acid)-type glutamate receptors (AMPARs) play an important role in the treatment of depression.

Agrimol B suppresses adipogenesis through modulation of SIRT1-PPAR gamma signal pathway

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2016
Studies of human genetics have implicated the role of SIRT1 in regulating obesity, insulin resistance, and longevity. These researches motivated the identification of novel SIRT1 activators. The current study aimed to investigate the potential efficacy of agrimol B, a polyphenol derived from Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb., on mediating SIRT1 activity and fat ...

Lobaric acid and pseudodepsidones inhibit NF-κB signaling pathway by activation of PPAR-γ

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2018
Herein we report the anti-inflammatory activity of lobaric acid and pseudodepsidones isolated from the nordic lichen Stereocaulon paschale. Lobaric acid (1) and three compounds (2, 7 and 9) were found to inhibit the NF-κB activation and the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β and TNF-α) in LPS-stimulated macrophages.

Knockdown of S100A9 inhibits pyroptosis and promotes PPAR signaling pathway in atopic dermatitis

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic and relapsing inflammatory skin disease. Although its clinical and pathological characteristics are well documented, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain incompletely elucidated.Hub differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in AD were identified using the GSE222771 and GSE182740 datasets. Cytokine (TNF-α/IFN-

PPAR signaling pathway may be an important predictor of breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy

Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, 2012
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy for advanced breast cancer may improve the radicality for a subset of patients, but others may suffer from severe adverse drug reactions without any benefit. To predict the responses to chemotherapy, we performed a phase II trial of neoadjuvant chemotherapy using a weekly PCb [paclitaxel (Taxol) plus carboplatin] regimen for ...

Antiobesity effect of ginsenoside Rg3 involves the AMPK and PPAR‐γ signal pathways

Phytotherapy Research, 2008
AbstractGinsenosides, the active component of ginseng, exerts antidiabetic and anticancer effects. This study investigated the molecular basis of ginsenoside Rg3, a red ginseng rich constituent, focusing on its ability to inhibit adipocyte differentiation in 3T3‐L1 cells.

CEACAM1 regulates autophagy in oral squamous cell carcinoma through the PPAR signaling pathway

Journal of Stomatology Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), as one of the most common malignant tumors in the head and neck region, has a complex and diverse pathogenesis. An increasing number of studies indicate that cellular autophagy plays a significant role in the occurrence, development, and treatment of tumors.

Association study between gene polymorphisms in PPAR signaling pathway and porcine meat quality traits

Mammalian Genome, 2013
There is increasing evidence suggesting that fatty acids biosynthesis and metabolism are regulated by peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), mostly through the PPAR signaling pathway at the transcriptomic level. We hypothesized that the genetic variants of the enzymes in the PPAR signaling pathway may be associated with the traits of ...

PPAR-γ Signaling and Common Protective Pathways against Obesity and Alzheimer's Disease

Current Signal Transduction Therapy
Transcription factor PPAR-γ is predominantly found in adipose tissue, liver, and brain. PPARs form heterodimers, interact with ligands, and regulate the expression of the genes of the PPAR-γ downstream regulatory pathways. PPAR-γ is critical in regulating many physiological processes, including adipogenesis, glucose ...
