Origins of Life and Evolution of Biospheres, 2014
This short communication summarizes a global and continuous reflection on the origins of life. "Prebiotic Petroleum" assumes that "the class of most complex molecules of life that may have geochemical and abiotic origin is the class of fatty acids with long aliphatic chains" and proposes a physical process for the formation of liposomes.

Determining the “Biosignature Threshold” for Life Detection on Biotic, Abiotic, or Prebiotic Worlds
Astrobiology, 2021The field of prebiotic chemistry has demonstrated that complex organic chemical systems that exhibit various life-like properties can be produced abiotically in the laboratory.

Prebiotic Activation Processes
Nature, 1973Questions regarding the combination of amino acids and ribonucleotides to polypeptides and polynucleotides are investigated. Each of the reactions considered occurs in the solid state in plausible prebiotic conditions. Together they provide the basis for a unified scheme of amino acid and nucleotide activation. Urea, imidazole and Mg(++) are essential

A wealth of information has been gathered over the past 15 years on prebiotics through experimental, animal and human studies, with the aim to understand the mechanism of actions and elucidate their beneficial health effects to the human host. Significant amount of evidence exists for their ability to increase the bioavailability of minerals and ...

Prebiotic photosynthetic reactions
Biosystems, 1981Historically, numerous attempts have been made to mimic - by means of inorganic model reactions - the photosynthetic fixation of CO2 by green plants. The literature in this field is strewn with claims and counter-claims. Two factors have led us to reexamine this subject: firstly; doubts concerning the highly reducing model for the atmosphere of the ...

The intestinal flora of breast-fed infants is an important physiologic factor in the function of the gut and in the development of the immune system. The current research is part of a group of studies performed to answer the question whether a bovine milk formula supplemented with a prebiotic mixture from galactooligosaccharides and ...
