Dual Bipolar Resistive Switching in Wafer‐Scalable 2D Perovskite Oxide Nanosheets‐Based Memristor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A wafer‐scalable memristor based on 2D Sr2Nb3O₁₀ perovskite oxide nanosheets exhibits dual bipolar resistive switching through controllable oxygen ion migration and redox reactions. This single device enables both STDP and anti‐STDP synaptic functions, achieving 86.4% MNIST accuracy in supervised spiking neural networks, offering a compact, energy ...

Neuronal Cholesterol Deficiency Mediated by Astrocytic SREBP2 Downregulation Leads to Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction Through Impairment of Hippocampal Synaptic Plasticity and Excitatory Synaptic Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The results showed that the reduction of plasma 24‐hydroxycholesterol (24‐OHC) was related to the cognitive decline in elderly surgical patients. Neuroinflammation induced by anesthesia and surgery significantly downregulated SREBP2 in hippocampal reactive astrocytes, resulting in reduced cholesterol synthesis.

Profiling synaptic proteins identifies regulators of insulin secretion and lifespan.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2008
Cells are organized into distinct compartments to perform specific tasks with spatial precision. In neurons, presynaptic specializations are biochemically complex subcellular structures dedicated to neurotransmitter secretion.

Ultrafast Multilevel Switching and Synaptic Behavior in a Planar Quantum Topological Memristor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dry‐transferred Bi2Te3 layers enable a planar quantum topological memristor framework. In‐plane topological surface states facilitate ultrafast & low‐power operations. Coexisting analog and digital modes support current‐controlled multilevel states. PQTM exhibits 105 s retention, 103 cycles endurance, and reproducibility across 24 devices.

The sodium‐driven chloride/bicarbonate exchanger in presynaptic terminals

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, 2012
AbstractThe sodium‐driven chloride/bicarbonate exchanger (NDCBE), a member of the SLC4 family of bicarbonate transporters, was recently found to modulate excitatory neurotransmission in hippocampus. By using light and electron microscopic immunohistochemistry, we demonstrate here that NDCBE is expressed throughout the adult rat brain, and selectively ...

Plasticity of GABA(B) receptor-mediated heterosynaptic interactions at mossy fibers after status epilepticus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Several neurotransmitters, including GABA acting at presynaptic GABAB receptors, modulate glutamate release at synapses between hippocampal mossy fibers and CA3 pyramidal neurons.

Compensatory Interplay Between Clarin‐1 and Clarin‐2 Deafness‐Associated Proteins Governs Phenotypic Variability in Hearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Functional compensation between clarin‐1 and clarin‐2 in cochlear hair cells. Hearing loss associated with CLRN1 mutations shows striking phenotypic variability; however, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study reveals that clarin‐1 and clarin‐2 function cooperatively in cochlear hair cells to sustain mechanoelectrical ...

Inhibitory and excitatory axon terminals share a common nano-architecture of their Cav2.1 (P/Q-type) Ca2+ channels

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2015
Tuning of the time course and strength of inhibitory and excitatory neurotransmitter release is fundamental for the precise operation of cortical network activity and is controlled by Ca2+ influx into presynaptic terminals through the high voltage ...
