Nose‐to‐Brain Delivery of Acyl‐Ghrelin Peptide Gold Nanoconjugates for Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Intranasal delivery of acyl‐ghrelin using gold nanorods (AuNRs) is investigated as a strategy for treating neurodegenerative diseases. Acyl‐ghrelin is conjugated to AuNRs under optimized conditions that preserve its bioactivity and prevent nanoparticle cross‐linking.

A multi‐trait evaluation of patterns and fitness consequences of breeding phenology plasticity with nocturnal warming and food restriction in a lizard

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Faced with climate warming, ectothermic species shift their breeding phenology, which is in part attributed to an acceleration of gestation or incubation in warmer environments.

Interventional oncology in children: Where are we now?

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
Abstract Paediatric Interventional Oncology (IO) lags behind adult IO due to a scarcity of specific outcome data. The suboptimal way to evolve this field is relying heavily on adult experiences. The distinct tumour types prevalent in children, such as extracranial germ cell tumours, sarcomas, and neuroblastoma, differ strongly from those found in ...

Microbiological Foundations to Optimise Intrinsic Capacity and Promote Healthy Ageing: An Integration Into the Life Course Approach

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Gut microbiota composition may influence trajectories of intrinsic capacity throughout life. Factors that positively or negatively impact gut microbiota (determining eubiosis or dysbiosis, respectively) can affect health, potentially acting through short‐chain fatty acids and their metabolic and anti‐inflammatory functions.
