The 1967 Patent Law Debate—First-to-Invent vs. First-to-File [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
United States patent law has traditionally been based on the proposition that the first inventor, not the first person to file a patent application, is the only person entitled to a patent. Nevertheless, the President\u27s Commission on the Patent System

The application of NIR spectroscopy with chemometric analysis for monitoring the powder blending process [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2014
This paper reports the use of Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy as a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tool for monitoring the metformin hydrochloride and polyvinilpyrolidone (PVP) mixing process, which is the first stage in the tablet ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Identifying pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment's surface roughness and mitigating robustness concerns when using specular reflectance Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy for rapid cleaning verification

open access: yesTalanta Open, 2022
Preventing cross-contamination during manufacturing is a regulatory requirement in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. One element of measures to prevent cross-contamination is the validation of cleaning processes for manufacturing equipment by ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Agglomeration Control during Ultrasonic Crystallization of an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
Application of ultrasound during crystallization can efficiently inhibit agglomeration. However, the mechanism is unclear and sonication is usually enabled throughout the entire process, which increases the energy demand. Additionally, improper operation
