PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 2, Page 447-463, February 2026.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

CLinNET: An Interpretable and Uncertainty‐Aware Deep Learning Framework for Multi‐Modal Clinical Genomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 12, 27 February 2026.
Identifying disease‐causing genes in neurocognitive disorders remains challenging due to variants of uncertain significance. CLinNET employs dual‐branch neural networks integrating Reactome pathways and Gene Ontology terms to provide pathway‐level interpretability of genomic alterations.

A short peptide derived from late embryogenesis abundant proteins enhances acid tolerance in Escherichia coli via modulation of two‐component regulatory systems

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 3, Page 781-805, February 2026.
Expression of the LEA‐K peptide in E. coli BL21 (DE3) improved bacterial viability under acidic stress (pH4), suggesting a protective function. RNA‐sequencing of LEA‐K‐expressing vs. non‐expressing cells revealed 283 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). In silico docking linked LEA‐K to two‐component systems (TCS) proteins (Rcs, BtsS/R, and EnvZ/OmpR)

Association between autism spectrum disorder in individuals with velocardiofacial (22q11.2 deletion) syndrome and PRODH and COMT genotypes [PDF]

open access: yesPsychiatric Genetics, 2014
Velocardiofacial (VCFS; 22q11.2 deletion) syndrome is a genetic disorder that results from a hemizygous deletion of the q11.2 region on chromosome 22, and is associated with greatly increased risk for psychiatric disorders, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and schizophrenia.

Regulation of Cell Function and Myeloid‐Derived Suppressor Cell Chemotaxis by hsa_circ_0006466‐miR‐1286‐PDGFRA/B Axis in Triple Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play critical regulatory roles in diverse biological processes of breast cancer. This study aimed to investigate the circRNAs potentially related to immunity in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC). Methods We identified the dysregulated circRNAs in breast cancer using Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets.

A Novel Subgroup of bZIP Proteins Functions as Transcriptional Activators in Hypoosmolarity-Responsive Expression of the ProDH Gene in Arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yesPlant and Cell Physiology, 2004
A 6-bp sequence, ACTCAT, acts as a cis-acting element involved in hypoosmolarity- and proline-responsive expression of an Arabidopsis proline dehydrogenase (ProDH) gene. Search of the database for plant cis-acting elements revealed that the ACTCAT sequence is similar to the GCN4 motif [ATGA(C/G)TCAT] that is recognized by bZIP transcription factors. To

Urinary metabolomic profiling in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome reveals microbial and mitochondrial signatures related to autism and psychosis risk

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Aim 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22qDS) is the most common copy‐number‐variation disorder, associated with multi‐organ anomalies and elevated risk for schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric conditions. Previous metabolomic studies have used blood samples, implicating mitochondrial dysfunction and amino acid imbalance, but no urinary ...

Life Factors and Melanoma: From the Macroscopic State to the Molecular Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 43, November 20, 2025.
Melanoma, an aggressive skin cancer, arises from dynamic interactions between genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. This review explores how age, gender, obesity, diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol, UV exposure, circadian rhythms, and medications influence melanoma risk and progression.

Application of sucrose modulates the expressions of genes involved in proline and polyamine metabolism in maize seedlings exposed to drought

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2019
Sucrose, proline, and polyamines are compatible solutes accumulating in plant tissues and increasing cellular osmolarity under environmental stresses. These compatible solutes and hydrogen peroxide can function as signaling molecules in plants. There has
