A working model for cytoplasmic assembly of H/ACA snoRNPs
Dyskerin is the component of nuclear H/ACA ribonucleoproteins (RNPs) endowed with pseudouridine synthase catalytic activity. Two isoforms of human dyskerin have been characterized: the abundant Iso1, mainly nuclear, and the shorter Iso3, mainly cytoplasmic but occasionally imported into nuclei.

Integrative multi-omics analysis identifies a prognostic miRNA signature and a targetable miR-21-3p/TSC2/ mTOR axis in metastatic pheochromocytoma/ paraganglioma [PDF]
Artículo escrito por un elevado número de autores, solo se referencian el que aparece en primer lugar y los autores pertenecientes a la UAMPheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs) are rare neuroendocrine tumors that present variable outcomes.

Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals an opposite role of SLPI in basal tumors based on metastatic spread, along with shared activation of specific regulons in cancer cells and mature luminal lactocytes, as well as downregulation of MALAT1 and NEAT1 in the latter.

Cervical cancer (CC) is a leading cause of cancer-related death in women. Limited studies have investigated whether immune-related genes (IRGs) or tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) could be indicators for CC prognoses.

Divergent mutational processes distinguish hypoxic and normoxic tumours. [PDF]
Many primary tumours have low levels of molecular oxygen (hypoxia), and hypoxic tumours respond poorly to therapy. Pan-cancer molecular hallmarks of tumour hypoxia remain poorly understood, with limited comprehension of its associations with specific ...

Prognostic genome and transcriptome signatures in colorectal cancers
AbstractColorectal cancer is caused by a sequence of somatic genomic alterations affecting driver genes in core cancer pathways1. Here, to understand the functional and prognostic impact of cancer-causing somatic mutations, we analysed the whole genomes and transcriptomes of 1,063 primary colorectal cancers in a population-based cohort with long-term ...

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.

An evaluation of DNA-damage response and cell-cycle pathways for breast cancer classification [PDF]
Accurate subtyping or classification of breast cancer is important for ensuring proper treatment of patients and also for understanding the molecular mechanisms driving this disease.

microRNA expression pattern as an ancillary prognostic signature for radiotherapy [PDF]
In view of the limited knowledge of plasma biomarkers relating to cancer resistance to radiotherapy, we have set up screening, training and testing stages to investigate the microRNAs (miRNAs) expression profile in plasma to predict between the poor responsive and responsive groups after 6 months of radiotherapy.Plasma was collected prior to and after ...
