Mitochondrial dynamics links PINCH-1 signaling to proline metabolic reprogramming and tumor growth

open access: yesCell Stress, 2020
Proline metabolism is critical for cellular response to microenvironmental stress in living organisms across different kingdoms, ranging from bacteria, plants to animals. In bacteria and plants, proline is known to accrue in response to osmotic and other

NITROGEN METABOLISM OF SOYBEAN AT SATURATED SOIL CULTURE AND WATERING CULTIVATION OF FARMER’S SYSTEM IN CONDITIONS OF TIDAL LAND [PDF]

open access: yesRussian Journal of Agricultural and Socio-Economic Sciences, 2023
This research aimed to study the effect of the water-saturated cultivation system of Tidal land on nitrogen metabolism in soybean. Treatment was growing plants on benches, at the different water levels of trenches-which were 15 cm, 20 cm, and 25 cm from ...

Inborn Errors of Proline Metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Nutrition, 2008
l-Proline concentration is primarily related to the balance of enzymatic activities of proline dehydrogenase [proline oxidase (POX)] and Delta-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C) reductase. As a result, P5C plays a pivotal role in maintaining the concentration of proline in body fluids and inborn errors of P5C metabolism lead to disturbance of proline ...

Proline Biosynthesis Enzyme Genes Confer Salt Tolerance to Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) in Cooperation With Polyamines Metabolism

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Understanding the regulation of proline metabolism necessitates the suppression of two Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase enzyme (P5CS) genes performed in switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.).

Preprint: Essential role of proline synthesis and the one-carbon metabolism pathways for systemic virulence of Streptococcus pneumoniae

open access: yes, 2023
Previous virulence screens have indicated potential roles during Streptococcus pneumoniae infection for the one-carbon metabolism pathway component Fhs and proline synthesis mediated by ProABC. To define how these metabolic pathways affect S.

Proline metabolism and cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience, 2012
Proline plays a special role in cancer metabolism. Proline oxidase (POX), a.k.a. proline dehydrogenase (PRODH), is among a few genes induced rapidly and robustly by P53, the tumor suppressor. Ectopic expression of POX under control of tet-off promoter initiated mitochondrial apoptosis. The mechanism activated by POX is mediated by its production of ROS.

Evaluation of P5CS and ProDH activity in Paulownia tomentosa (Steud.) as an indicator of oxidative changes induced by drought stress [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
The aim of the study was to investigate changes in proline metabolism in seedlings of tree species during drought stress. One month old Paulownia tomentosa seedlings were exposed to moisture conditions at various levels (irrigation at 100, 75, 50 and 25%

Arbuscular Mycorrhizae Mitigate Aluminum Toxicity and Regulate Proline Metabolism in Plants Grown in Acidic Soil

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2021
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can promote plant growth and induce stress tolerance. Proline is reported to accumulate in mycorrhizal plants under stressful conditions, such as aluminum (Al) stress.

Proline: a key player in plant abiotic stress tolerance

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2015
Dramatic accumulation of proline is a common physiological response in plants exposed to various abiotic stresses. Accumulation of proline could be due to de novo synthesis, decreased degradation, lower utilization, or hydrolysis of proteins.

Yeast homologs of human MCUR1 regulate mitochondrial proline metabolism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Mitochondria house evolutionarily conserved pathways of carbon and nitrogen metabolism that drive cellular energy production. Mitochondrial bioenergetics is regulated by calcium uptake through the mitochondrial calcium uniporter (MCU), a multi-protein ...
