Ginseng polysaccharides prevent mastitis through Lactobacillus murinus‐derived deoxycholic acid and TGR5 signaling

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Prebiotic Ginseng polysaccharides (GP) alleviate mastitis through selective enrichment of gut L. murinus, which elevates its anti‐inflammatory metabolite deoxycholic acid (DCA). Circulating DCA engages mammary epithelial TGR5 receptors, triggering the cAMP–PKA pathway to suppress NF‐κB/NLRP3‐mediated inflammation.

A novel antibacterial peptide derived from Crocodylus siamensis haemoglobin hydrolysate induces membrane permeabilization causing iron dysregulation, oxidative stress and bacterial death [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Aims A novel antibacterial peptide from Crocodylus siamensis haemoglobin hydrolysate (CHH) was characterized for antimicrobial activity. Methods and Results CHHs were hydrolysed for 2 h (2 h-CHH), 4 h (4h-CHH), 6 h (6 h-CHH) and 8 h (8 h-CHH). The

Achieving superior therapeutic effects on methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection via simple sulfonation process for preparing zwitterionic photosensitizer

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
The sulfonated zwitterionic photosensitizer (PYSO3) is synthesized by reacting maleic anhydride derivatives with 4‐aminopyridine to form PY, followed by sulfonation with 1,4‐butane sultone. It exhibits both photothermal and photodynamic properties, enabling effective eradication of MRSA and biofilms, as well as promoting wound healing in mice ...

Growth Performance, Digestive Enzymes, and TOR Signaling Pathway of Litopenaeus vannamei Are Not Significantly Affected by Dietary Protein Hydrolysates in Practical Conditions

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2018
Protein hydrolysates have been widely reported as the protein source of aquatic feed. However, previous studies on protein hydrolysates focused on fish under experimental conditions.

Oral rehydration solution for the management of fluid and electrolyte disturbances in patients with an ileostomy: A scoping review

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Ileostomy creation is common among patients with colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, and inflammatory bowel disease. Surgical removal or diversion of the colon can result in nutrition complications, most notably dehydration—a leading cause of hospital readmission—and increased risk of kidney injury.

Impacts of Biostimulants on Nitrous Oxide Emissions and the Soil Microbiome

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
Soil incubation experiment examining the influence of biostimulants on greenhouse gas emissions and the soil microbiome in fertilized soils. ABSTRACT Background Overapplication of nitrogenous fertilizer and enhanced microbial activity in agricultural soils are drivers of increasing greenhouse gas emissions.

Egg yolk hydrolysate shows moderate impact on osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND This study investigated the protective effect of egg yolk hydrolysate (FC) on osteoporosis in ovariectomized (OVX) rats, a well‐established model of postmenopausal bone loss. OVX rats were fed diets supplemented with 0.2% or 1% FC for 13 weeks.

Determination of digestible indispensable amino acid score for salmon hydrolysate proteins

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Salmon products are excellent foods that contain indispensable nutrients including fatty acids and amino acids (AA), but during processing, salmon co‐products that cannot be used for the primary purpose are also generated. Examples of such co‐products include salmon protein hydrolysate concentrate (SPHC) and salmon protein ...

Obtaining Ingredients Based on Egg and Plant Protein Mixtures with High Functional and Technological Properties

open access: yesТехника и технология пищевых производств
Most people source protein from animal products such as eggs, meat, and dairy products. However, they are more expensive than plant sources of protein and their consumption can provoke severe allergic reactions.
