Prox1 Inhibits Proliferation and Is Required for Differentiation of the Oligodendrocyte Cell Lineage in the Mouse.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Central nervous system injury induces a regenerative response in ensheathing glial cells comprising cell proliferation, spontaneous axonal remyelination, and limited functional recovery, but the molecular mechanisms are not fully understood.

Canal cristae growth and fiber extension to the outer hair cells of the mouse ear require Prox1 activity.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BackgroundThe homeobox gene Prox1 is required for lens, retina, pancreas, liver, and lymphatic vasculature development and is expressed in inner ear supporting cells and neurons.Methodology/principal findingsWe have investigated the role of Prox1 in the ...

Human iPSC‐Derived Mononuclear Phagocytes Improve Cognition and Neural Health across Multiple Mouse Models of Aging and Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Short‐term intravenous treatments with iPSC‐derived mononuclear phagocytes (iMPs) improve cognitive decline and neural health in two mouse models of aging and in the 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. iMPs reduce levels of serum amyloid proteins that increase in aging and improve the health of hippocampal microglia and mossy cells.

Hematopoietic stem cell regeneration through paracrine regulation of the Wnt5a/Prox1 signaling axis

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2022
The crosstalk between the BM microenvironment (niche) and hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) is critical for HSC regeneration. Here, we show that in mice, deletion of the Fanconi anemia (FA) genes Fanca and Fancc dampened HSC regeneration through direct ...

The Pathogenic Roles of Local Vitamin D Metabolism Defect in Valve Inflammation and Calcification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the valvular interstitial cell populations responsible for valvular calcification induced by hyperphosphatemia and likely aging, uncovers local vitamin D metabolism defect‐induced inflammation as a critical pathogenic factor of calcific aortic valve disease, and highlights active vitamin D and ERK inhibitor as potential preventive

Development and Characterization of A Novel Prox1-EGFP Lymphatic and Schlemm’s Canal Reporter Rat

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The lymphatic system plays a key role in tissue fluid homeostasis, immune cell trafficking, and fat absorption. We previously reported a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC)-based lymphatic reporter mouse, where EGFP is expressed under the regulation of

Deciphering the Role and Mechanism of Decidual Monocyte‐Derived Macrophage Infiltration in Obstetric Antiphospholipid Syndrome at Single‐Cell Resolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a novel mechanism and therapeutic targets in obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome (OAPS). Antiphospholipid antibody/ß2‐glycoprotein I complex boosts CCL2 and TNF‐α expression in decidual macrophages via TLR4‐NF‐κB. CCL2 accumulates on endothelial surfaces via ACKR1, recruiting monocyte‐derived CCR2+ macrophages, driving inflammation,

The Role of Prox1 during Mouse Pancreas Organogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The pancreas is a mixed (exocrine and endocrine) glandular organ that is important for food digestion and glucose homeostasis. Developmental anomalies or disorders that affect normal pancreas homeostasis may cause various life-threatening diseases such ...
